Yeah, don't worry about his age, MIE! He's a young whipper snapper!

I'm going to try and qualify with Ace for the training 3-day at Waredaca in October, and he'll be 25 this year, plus he's had a very, very long career and did his last one-star at like 21. Who knows? Maybe he'll be fit/sound enough to take me to a prelim late this season!

^^ That would be awesome Strange! I wish you all the best! I am glad you shared his age, because it makes me feel better :)

I know it all depends on the horse itself, and the care that horse recieves. I've seen 9 year old's who are limited, or 6 year old's who can only do low levels, and 11, 12 year old's who are already pasture ornaments *very saddening* and, of course, 25 year old's cleaning house at Training and Prelim.

I put a lot into Nelson, not only because that's my responsibility, but also because he's my best friend and I want him to remain sound, healthy and happy for as long as possible. He's my Super Hero :)

Looks like somebody's been out having fun! That's your home barn??? I'm GREEEEN with envy right now. We have fields, but no jumps in them. That's great to hear you're moving up to novice this year. When you get to stadium, just tell yourself, "It's 4 friggin' inches!!!"

*smacks forehead* I KNOW!! LOL! It's only 4"...how stupid, and rediculous! I know! I hate myself for it - and I have to continue to tell myself, it's just 4". But...I know I just introduced the word "but" - when I see the fences built and put up for a course...my mind floods itself with that accident I had, and my mind makes those stupid 2'11" fences, look 3'11".

I hate it, I feel stupid, I look at all these other people who are advancing with no issues, and I beat myself up over it.

The facility in the pics, is not my home barn, but it's just a 2 - 5 minute ride from my home barn :) So, it's very close! Our Coach, is the BM of this facility, so that makes it even better :)

Looks like you had a good schooling session. SOOOO jealous. Our XC field is still a bit mucky for anything other than removing horse shoes.

I love Nelson! I'd give anything for a wiser horse in eventing. He certainly looks like the horse that will be kicking it around the course well into his late 20s. Good luck this year! After your first event you'll be wondering what you were so worried about with those stupid stadium fences.

Tell me about it. I just finally got to where 2' looks small. That took 2 years!!! Nobody advances with no issues, much like that couple that looked so happy at that party last week is secretly in couples therapy. Things are almost never what they appear to be.
