Hey there. :) I currently do hunter jumper/jumper competitions but for the past while I've had a huge itch to get into eventing. It wont seem to go away, so I've decided to give it a go. I don't really have much of an idea of how to get started though, or find a good trainer, which I know is vital to doing well and being SAFE.
I live in the Atlanta area, btw, if any one know of any eventing trainers.
Thank you!
Edit: Meant to put WANT in the title, not what :(
I would go to some events. Since your in the lovely warm south, they may still be running fall events.
Going to events not only gives you an idea of how the events are run, but what level you'd feel comfortable and what your competition would look like. While you're there, you can keep an eye out for coaches (you'll see them walking xc and schooling the warm up ring). If you like the way a certain coach's students ride, look that person up.
FYI... once you start eventing, you won't want to go back to hunters... just saying.
