Woo-hoo! 2nd time out and we won our division! pics

So all my mental anxiety was for nothing! Primo was an absolute pro (as much as a green horse can be) at the event. We hit some traffic on the way down so I only had 20 minutes to tack up and school for dressage. We dropped our score by 10 from the last event to a 34 to put us in the lead. He was so great jumping. It's finally clicking... forward jump. We had a few hairy moments because the course had a lot of tight broken lines, but he cantered on happily (see the attempt at smiling on my part). Most importantly we went clear. XC was much the same, we trotted the first fence but cantered and actually galloped the rest. Two fences were a bit "scary" and he thought about going a different direction, but decided on the over option. I was so proud of him! The pics catch a lot of the green moments, but all in all it was awesome. I can't believe that his second event out we took the division. Granted it's only elementary... but tiny steps for us. I'm glad I finally have pics to look at too... I see some things I need to work on. Any tips are also appreciated.

I don't think I've ever seen a calmer looking face on a horse going over a jump. He looks like it is too easy!

He really really likes XC and it helps when the jumps are nice and inviting.

I like how you described his choice about going over the scary jumps. I love that squirrely moment when they think about and then go "oh what the heck!" Great job. He looks very relaxed and happy.

Congratulations on your job well done! You both look great together, and I love your horse! I love his tuck, man can he tuck eh!

I look forward to seeing and hearing more from you! Congrats!

Sometimes Nelson gets "squirrly" under me, which makes me just ride harder. I sit deep, drive with my seat, use my voice and tap his shoulder with my Bat and he turns into a "Go Getter" - good for you for getting him over the fences! He did it because he trusts you, and that's a great feeling :)

We def had our green moments, but he can be very level headed as long as he has a job, he will generally settle in. Our biggest problem was all the port-o-potties stationed everywhere. Those things have monsters in them.
