XC Jumps

I have decided that where we board my horse, I would like to build some XC jumps. The problem is that I have never built any XC jumps. Any advice? Beginner Novice level is probably as far as we will go right now, but some Novice level jumps will work, too. Pictures are appreciated!!! :)

I made a beginner novice cross country jump with my dad out of wood and birch trees. We made wooden base so that the back of the jump was at a 90 degree angle and we mad the front of the jump slant so that the height of the jump reached 2'6. Then we cut some old birch trees down and trimmed them so that they would reach across the jump. If you just look up how to build a cross country jump then you should be able to find things that will help. Also if you go to events then you can take pictures of the cross country jumps you like and build them based off of that. That's exactly what me and my dad did! Sorry I don't have pictures but I hope this helped a little :)

Make Your Own Cross-Country Jumps

The neat thing about XC jumps is that since many of them are 'natural' looking, you should be able to find materials fairly easy. The link above from the Horse Channel may be helpful.

It does help if you look up pics or go to an event to see some ideas, but most natural-type materials either stacked or covering a stadium jump can make the jumps look xc like. Stacking logs like this(you can make it higher or stack them the other way)

Also 50 gal. Barrels make great jumps and you can paint them easily.

Metal barrels work, too.
