Another word for a thoroughbred. It is a show class with horses height from 15hh and above. A hack is a show horse like the horse tate that jackofdiamonds posted. Hope that this has helped

I the UK it is quite different.

The ideal Show Hack is of thoroughbred or PBA type and should be capable of carrying an average adult. The Hack must be a pleasure to ride and have excellent manners. The Hack should be in self-carriage and be light and soft to ride. It should also have correct conformation with the emphasis on quality and elegance. The latter stems from a well set on head and neck combined with a good length of shoulder. The movement should be smooth and graceful with a true pointing of the toe. To achieve these qualities the Hack must be extremely well schooled. Classes for Hacks: Small Hack - Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 154cms Large Hack - Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 154cms but not exceeding 160cms
The reality is that hacks in the UK tend to be Part bred arabs, part bred welsh or TB however they are very very fine. If they have more bone they become a riding horse and then a hunter. Overhere a horse can NOT be both a hunter and a hack, it is impossible. The horse cannot be both a hack and a riding horse either. The hack over here is not just anouther word for TB.
Over here it is. Obviously I know that a Hunter and a hack is not considered BOTH a hack, just one or the other. I was just saying a TB in a paddock is considered a hack. Now I don't want this to start an arguement so I hope I didnt write it in a way that you took it as the start of an arguement.
Why would I argue? I didnt mean it as an argument and I'm not sure where I've posted that seems like an argument. I was simply stating that the deffinition of a hack depends upon which country you are in and there is a difference between the UK and australia.
