Hickstead: A super horse

Okay, first of all I have to say that there are many horses that stand out in my mind as amazing from the race horses including Ruffian, Secretariat, Eight Bells, Pharlap, Seabiscuit,Barbaro and many others. To the western horses such as Scamper, Hell's Angel, Five Minutes to Midnight, and Baby Doll. There are also the show jumpers, who are the most influential to me as I am a jumper myself, like Big Ben, Milton, Gem Twist, Idle Dice, and most notable, Hickstead.

The dark bay stallion touched my life from the first moment I saw him, as I know he did with everyone who laid eyes on him. Even my western friends knew who he was, what he had done and what an amazing horse he was.

I won't go on forever about him and make this sound like an essay filled with easy to find facts, but I just want to pay tribute to, in my mind, the greatest show jumper to ever take to the field. He was taken too soon and he will be missed greatly.

RIP Hickstead

I feel the same way about SeaBiscuit. Great horse with a big heart and taken too soon. I just wish I knew where he was buried Not that I would go there (out of respect for the family wishes) but to know where his greatness lays.
