Ruffian (movie)

I was just looking around on the internet the other day when I found out about an ESPN Ruffian movie made in 2007. Has anyone seen it or have any thoughts on it? It seemed like it would be interesting but I couldn't really find much information about it. Does it follow the real story of Ruffian? Thanks!

Yep, real story of Ruffian. It's a dang good movie but then ending will make any horse lover sick. Because it's true, that makes it so much more heartbreaking.

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog: http://robertsontraining.blogspot.com/

^ agreed, I watching it from a streaming channel, and it was a very good movie, but the ending was horribly saddening :(

Ruffian is my all time favorite racehorse next to Black Gold. The movie was amazing, but the ending definitely made me BAWL.

I thought it was okay...they didn't do a great job of matching up horses though, in different scenes...it did a fairly good job of covering her life. She was an amazing horse.

Forgot to add, that she was an enormous mare in real life (like 17 hh, maybe more, don't remember) and they didn't do a great job of portraying that; they used alot of colts in the race scenes...haha. But it is a good movie, and very much worth the watch.

I did not really like it. It was just really poorly made. Ruffian's life is a great story and deserves a better movie than that. If you really are interested in the story I would suggest a book called Ruffian Burning From the Start by Jane Schwartz. It's a non-fiction book that it written like a novel, and it tells the story in an informative yet entertaining and heartbreaking way.

The movie was AMAZING! I had never really known about Ruffian before that, but I still cried at the end. If I had the watch it again, I would probably cry more becuase I know more about her. It followed her story very well, and it wasn't cheesy like some.
