Heyo! Goat problem. I have five goats two adult males two adult females and uno little baby boy goat. Unfortunately a few of them have been coughing and wheezing. I think it may just be a cold but I'm not for sure. Any ideas? I don't want it to be anything serious so just making sure ;)

They can get cold like symptoms if they get mucky water, did not get the over eaters shot. And it could be a cold. Can you get the antibiotics to put in the water ?

I wouldn't feed willy-nilly antibiotics- they may be unnecessary, they won't work with viral illnesses anyway, and they won't work in resistant bacteria. The use of antibiotics should be confined to diagnosed and quite severe bacterial illnesses that are not being adequately handled by the immune system, with an antibiotic tailored to the particular bacterial type. I'm not being a stick-in-the-mud: Antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest problems facing human and animal medicine. If we're not careful now, the time will come when people and animals will once again start dying from previously treatable infections...

Get a veterinarian for advice and treatment if they start going off their food or their temperatures run too high.

Thanks :) they aren't coughing to much and the mucas stopped. I'm looking into giving them a bit of echinacea

They could have summer pneumonia or be wormy. Were they recently purchased and moved? They could have shipping fever.

I called oand described the symptoms to them. She said that it sounded like pneumonia. My mom drove me to the vets office and got three antibiotic shots for 6 bucks. My dad had to give him the first two but I was able to do the third :) it was one shot every two days. Yesterday I gave him his last shot and he is doing great! Jumping around and being super happy :) also because I'm homescchooled my mom talked to them about job shadowing at the office. They are going to call us sometime to let us know :)
