Jonny the cockerel

Hi all, thought id upload a pic of our new cockerel we had today. He's fitting in well already!!

He's going to be stunning. Why must the rooster be the lookers? What is he? Barred Cochin?

It's fun to have a variety and lesser known chickens in the mix. I'm getting silver laced Cochin chicks next month. Can't wait for them to grow up.

How old would you say my barred cochin is? Had him to day and not sure how old he is, I know he's pretty young. Was wondering if hel grow anymore? We haven't had chickens for that long so still learning.

His comb and wattles look like they're full grown and deep red like he's somewhere between 6-9 months. His tail feathers still have some growing to do so he's not full grown. Hard to tell. Is he small like a bantam? Bantam cocks will weight about 900g when mature. A standard Cochin will weigh close to 5K. That's probably the easiest way to figure out how old he is (as long as he isn't a runt)

Yeh he does look pretty small like a bantam but I would say he is a little bigger than one.
