My Geese with *pics*

I got given two geese about a fornight ago, along with a goose shed. I knew absolutely nothing about keeping geese. But our farmer where I rent my land for my Horses gave them to my partner ( he was kind of worried they might end up on someones plate) So I know have what is supposed to be a goose and a gander. I looked up about what to feed them online.
And my partner has built them a pen and put a small pond in for them to splash about in ( talk about spoiled lol) These geese are just for pets not eating.

I am enjoying watching them when I am finnished doing the chores and riding. I am hoping we get some little baby gosling later in the spring. Would love to hear from other goose keepers? For advice etc and friendship

Looks like you have a goose heaven there.

Geese are great fun, we used to keep them in the UK for a while, the were meant to be guard geese for the hens, but the fox took them out We did have some lovely eggs from them while we had them.

I used to have a pair of geese, gander and hen, and I LOVED having them around. The male was very posessive and would come tell the cat to get out of my lap so he could jump up in it. He also liked to play 'airplane' by grabbing onto the strap of my purse and then having me spin him around in circles. That was his favorite game. I raised the two of them from babies though, so I don't know if adults will bond as well as babies. A predator got them and at the request of neighbors/family/friends, I've not replaced them but I miss them a lot. The hen was more tentative, would come up for a cuddle but only after the gander had his lap time and then she'd only stick around for a few minutes. They really were fun to have (at least for me, they weren't as fun for strangers I guess! LOL).

I have already had my first egg, it was delicious. Today they were mating so I know I have a hen and a gander :) I thought they might spook the ponies but my mare just chases them lol.

They are lovely. They have started being allowed out the pen while we are up there. So they are roaming round with the ponies now.

Ah how great! I would love to get a pair of Toulouse geese but we have too many predators around us and am told they don't do well in a large pen and no grass to graze all day...your pair is very pretty and very lovely
