I have one piped EGG!! It was one of the 7 I didn't think was viable!!

There's one egg that's been rockin and rollin MUCH MUCH more than the others... I have a feeling its going to be one hellacious bird.

Think it's time for me to set up the brooder? Umm, YEAH!!!

4 down, two to go, one was infertile...
I intervened (I know, BAD FLY) just a little. Last time the humidity got too high and two didn't emerge and suffocated. Soooo this time I opened two that were yet to pip, just 1/4th of the way. They are still chillin in the shells, but it looks terrible!
So not posting photos of those!

Does anyone know if you can safely "introduce" new chickens into a flock? We started with a flock of 7- two sadly were lost during out first molt. Then 2 of our 5 left were attack by our neighbors puppy. One was lost, the other we had the euthanize because the poor gal had lost her whole entire side.. Anyway, my mother is devastated as they are absolutely are her babies. We have 3 left. If we brought some outside chickens in, does that give way for perhaps fighting? They seem a little lonely.

When I added in 4 hens to my flock of 6 hens, I put them in a cage in the chicken house so that they could see each other for a while. They did ok after a little bit of picking at each other.

Awww! Chickens! I miss having chickens around. This is what I get for living in a subdivision...well, with my mother XD Once I move out after college...never again. I miss the isolation XD *cough* I'm a hermit. Anywhoo. I will post a random picture of my 3 hens that I used to show. ^-^

Alright, it definitely isn't a good picture as we were actually in a show. I'm the one closet to the fence (far left, pink shirt and longish hair) and this was back in 2009--but those were my three fatties. This was also before two of my hens started going at the third, so I had to hold her (the one getting picked on) for the remainder of the show. XD We still placed second out of twenty-something. ^-^

    Yes!

I have a 4 sided lil dog run that I cover with a tarp and let the new gals have during the day (w/food and water) and put them in my garage at night. After a week or so, I put them in the coop at night.

Always introduce at night when everyone is sleepy and agreeable.
