I'm so sorry! Sounds like he went the way we all wish we could go, laying down in the sun having a comfy snooze on a gorgeous day.

We all have to go sometime. If only we could all be so lucky as to enjoy a nice meal, lay down in the sun, and cross the rainbow bridge in peace.

Why is there a chicken in the top left corner only on pages in this thread?

LOL! I see it too. I think this thread has turned into one of the longest running and fairly popular threads, so they threw us a bone..........errrr........chicken!

I finally got chickens!! I got some young ones that are hanging out in the coop. They all huddle together for warmth and the temps never drop below 75, so I'm thinking the two youngest ones will be just fine.

From left to right there is Lucy, Foxy, Willow, Rue, and Ruby :)

I BELIEVE, in order, they are Brahma, Silkie, Americauna, Brahma, and Production Red.

I am just so proud I could BURST! We have had 3 chickens for about 3 months now...first time chicken keepers for both me and my hubby. Today we got our very first egg! Not sure who done it, but they did well, nice thick shell and ALMOST in the nest was right next to the box but not broken.

Good for the hens, karliejaye - those are my favourite moments when the young 'uns start their first lay. So, what happened to the egg? Did it make it to a breakfast plate? Perhaps in a nice cake?

@Chevaux, the egg is going to go into an omelet a bit later this morning...AFTER my mom comes over to see how well her grand-chickens have done.
