[QUOTE=Allison Finch;3003153 It would be so nice to find a home with someone who wants a pet. Sigh.[/QUOTE]

If you'll deliver to CO, my older kiddo would love him to death. We have more roosters than are needed simply because they're all "pets" and very well-loved. Yesterday the same child had a screaming fit wanting me to pull over so she could rescue a "lost chicken" we came across on a very rural, back road.... only problem is that the "lost chicken" was a TURKEY VULTURE!!

Need to take some pics of DD's "Chickie Pickies". They're getting rather pretty and I am really enjoying them. They're super friendly and love me lots - I get to be the one who spoils them with whatever fun things I have leftover in the kitchen. Their fave lately (and now a regular on the grocery list lol) is plain yogurt. It's pretty amusing watching them have their yogurt party.

Perhaps Phyllis is just going through a grunge stage and trying on new looks for fun? ;) For those of you who didn't know, Allison bought a new car recently. I think she bought the wrong one and needed this one instead.

    EGG THEIFS!

I have another 6 foot long black snake camped out in my coop, and I trapped my third baby skunk of the season.
The snake REALLY freaks me out because I've watched it slither under and over the roosting chickens... AND when I was gone on vacay it found it's way into my barn and tried to eat one of my 3 month old Orphs. It failed, but of course the HEN died. I'm trying to beat it to the eggs all day hoping it will give up and go eat rattler babies... Wishful thinking?

People, I'm surrounded by critters! *They are watching me....*

Would a mongoose help? Or would they also eat the eggs?

Can you train the snake to eat the baby skunks?

    Oh Egrogan that's a HOOT!!
Nope, apparently snakes and baby skunks coexist pretty nicely. The skunk digs the hole, the snake uses it to enter, eggs for all!

Hehe, I figured as much. Snakes are definitely not my forte.

3 weeks ago my neighbour gave me 6 eggs for my broody hen to sit on, which didn't go too well at first as another broody hen kept causing trouble, but this morning to my surprise (as I didn't think any would develop) I found one little chick.

I'm more worried about fox than snakes or skunks. Sure, snakes/skunks will eat eggs, but fox will most happily munch on adult chickens and I'd rather they didn't get mine.
