    Shhh Be Vewy Vewy Quiet!

    Newborn baby bunnies sleeping!

Here's WildChild with her nest. She's a young doe, and this is her first litter. She gave me six little bunnies!

Here's a close up her her bunnies. They are red because this shot was directly under the heat lamp.

This is Olive and she's a Satin rabbit. This is her third litter for me and this time she produced five bunnies.

Here are a couple of shots of her nest.

Here's Pepper, the father of both litters.

This is PsychoRabbit, the mother of WildChild and my best producer. She will be bred to Pepper next week end. She normally kindles out nine to eleven babies.

How cute! What do you do with them? Back in the day my dad used to breed rabbits and sell them to slaughterhouses. Either that or into 4H! WildChild is absolutely adorable

I raise them for meat and furs. I also belong to a medieval society, so the furs come in handy for costuming!

Their fur is ridiculously soft. They have pelts (?) at a craft store I always go to, I always tell myself I'll make mittens some day. Never have gotten around to it.

The farm I volunteered at had some baby bunnies born when we thought a male was a female...the mama tried to kill them so we bottle fed them. It was HARD because they were so tiny!

Your little ones are very cute :) Pepper is good looking!

Thank you! I've had Pepper and PsychoRabbit since they were 3 months old. He is a real snuggle bunny :)

I don't know if I could rear bunnies for meat. Nothing against people who do, of course, I just would get way too attached. Especially since they're so freaking adorable when they're little and it's not like they ever get ugly lol

I love their names WildChild, PsychoRabbit lol

    Update

Last night I checked the rabbits and WildChild had moved her nestbox away from the heat lamp. All six bunnies were stone cold dead. This wasn't a surprise, as it's her first litter and I did not expect them to make it. What WAS a surprise is that when I cleaned out the cage, I found four more babies in the hay! So for a first time breeder, she popped out ten babies! I think she will be as good a producer as her mom.

I brought the babies inside and warmed them up. Sometimes they are not dead but in a stupor; unfortunately, they were long past the revival stage. This morning, I found one of Olive's babies out of the box and stone cold as well. She's down to four babies but they are all well fed and active.

WildChild is rebred to Pepper and should kindle in a month. Maybe breeding for the beginning of May is still too early for this area, even with a heat lamp.

Olive is down to two now. I'll get some pictures up this weekend. Their eyes are just opening!
