15 year old cow, insane to buy?
We looked at some miniature cattle Sunday, SQUEEEEE!!!!!
We're looking to get a few and found a great cow. Registered, polled, gentle, heavy bred due in a few weeks, excellent mother, easy calving, GREAT confo, throws absolutely adorable and champion calves...
Problem is she's 15. She's in excellent condition, tip top shape, nice udder not low, very well taken care of.
VERY VERY reputable breeder. Being offered at a decent(ish) price, considering that cattle are SO HIGH right now, practically getting a 2 fer.
I really like and respect this lady and she IS doing us a favor, helping us get our feet wet and mentoring us.
The calf has a 75% chance, based on prior calving, to be a heifer.... Which is what we want, but OF COURSE it's a 50/50. DD will be showing the calf this fall regardless of what it is (small 4-H). This will be our first calf and cow, so I'm wanting everything that she is, just torn on if she's THE ONE. We plan to breed her back as soon as possible and feed her EXCEPTIONALLY well to keep her going. But knowing our luck this'll be her last, LOL!
So are we crazy to even consider?
You can get a lot further with a ladder than you can with crutches!! What do you mean what do I mean?
