How did you buy your farm?

We have been thinking/planning on moving for some time now. Well my hubby found a place last fall that he fell in love with, we've been watching it all winter. The place is still up for sale and has been reduced. He's been asking me to go see the farm that we've only seen in photos, but I am a little hesitant about looking at it and falling in love with it. I would looove to move, but just don't want to get in over our heads. We've put together a large amount for a down payment in only a few short months, but summer is also our easy season and the winter tends to get a bit hard as it is our off season.
I'd love to hear others stories on how they got their own farms, farm loans you were able to get, anything like that. For those of you less wealthy home-owners, what sacrifices you made to get your farm.

We used to have a 10 acre farm in Bucks Cty, PA. The short story is that about 10 years ago, a friend of mine and I took a trip to SC to look at a horse - I passed on the horse but bought the house.

It has 25 acres on the side of a small lake with a great barn and with access to plenty of trails. Timing was right and we sold our place in PA in 1 day at over the asking price. The first time my wife saw the place was when we were in contract on both places. (She never lets me forget it).

????!!!!! We loved it there! We lived in Bedminster and trailered out to Nockamixon, Pennypack, Hazelton, Valley Forge, just to name a few. I just hated the snow and cold winters.
