we're moving house!

I'm very excited, the family home is finally moving out into the country side. After quite literally 8 or so years of house-hunting, my parents now finally have a nice home with about 3 acres and some stables. (Unlucky that i'm now 21 and have pretty much moved out to university ). But at least Jewel will be moving home with us and a friend.

I need some words of advice from you all out there...

Firstly, (baring in mind i live in england) what sort of field maintenance is necessary - in terms of weeding/spraying/any other sort of upkeep requiring a tractor. And how often does this need doing? The field will be used for horses only.

Are there any other tips anyone can give me that i can pass onto parents? We all have donkeys years of experience looking after horses on a livery yard, but things get a bit more complicated when things aren't maintained for you.

just make sure after you have sprayed to leave your horses in for a couple of days lol that wont do them any good lol and if you run out of grass, fertilizing will make it come back to life :) but the same thing with the spraying of weeds or whatever, don't let your horse eat it for at least 4 days i think it is but not sure and i would section those 3 acres into an acre each so you can have one winter field that WILL get muddy lol and two summer fields that you can rest on week at a time :) we used to airiate our fields too, which is towing a machine that putts little holes into the ground to let the water get to the ground, all this can be done with a quad bike tho :) good luck x
