    Four generations is not very long, probably less than 20 years. That is actually very new compared to breeds that have been recording breedings for hundreds of years. The goal among gaited breeds is to fix the gait, through planned and recording breedings. To often gait is just here and there among many of the "gaited breeds". It is not consistent and not quality. If breedings are not recorded but mainly word of mouth, there is no consistant record of what works and doesn't.
