clear up a show gait please

So, I ride locally and have a twh that they ask for a show walk and a favorite gait. I have been riding the show walk just out of a flat walk then favorite extending this gait with more speed thus more leg action. We have a lot of qh judges and some in the class will flat walk others what I do. Sometimes I get first other times third. My question is when we show at state and have approved walking horse judges what will they look for. My horse is shod 1/2 × 1 inch band.

Video would help.

Are you saying your horse is wearing bands across fronts then? And not sure on the measurements? Never heard of shoes being measured like that, so not sure what you are saying.

Pics of hooves would be best, but as to OP, I would video horse being ridden to see what comes across best and figure the TWH judges are going to want more traditional gait, so nice running walk maybe?

What classes are you showing in? Might also see if there is video from years past to see what others are doing.

Horses make me a better person.

Do you have a link to the show program? I have never heard of a "show gait". Sure they are not saying SLOW gait? That is what 5-gaited saddlebreds call it. Here, the open shows have walk+favorite gait classes for gaited horses.

Here we have "Show Gait" and "Show Walk", so I've heard the term before. Videos of all her gaits would help.

Thanks, I don't have a way to take pictures or videos. It is not going to make a lot of difference knowing if flat walk or show walk. We had a show yesterday. All the other broke gait. I had an awesome ride and still got 4th out of four. I contribute it to the qh judges.

I believe that 1/2 by 1 inch is 1/2 inch thick and 1 inch wide. That's a pretty heavy shoe.
