Cues for Gaited Horses

Okay, so I am just wondering what cues you would use to get a gaited horse to perform their gait. For example, what is the difference between the cue for a tolt and the cue for a trot in icelandic horses?

With saddlebreds:

To rack, sit back on your tailbone, raise and spread your hands slightly (some require spread hands more than others), "pick" or sponge your snaffle rein, and squeeze with your knees

To trot, make sure even pressure is on all four reins, and ask them to move forward...if they get a little racky, place your hand on thier withers and pinch (don't know why it works, it just does )

Tölt- sit a bit back in you saddle, raise your hands a bit and give him suport with the rein and get him moving forward, if that all fails you can tap a little with your whip. That usually cleans the tölt a bit too
Trot-lean a tad forward, give the rain and use your leg.

No idea how it's supposed to be done, but this works for me and my horse:
Rack - sit deeper on your bum, move your legs back about 3 inches and if he didn't start by that or if it's mixed with trot or too much pace; put the lower legs to his sides. Leave the reins long, he usually doesn't need them.

Trot: lean forward a little and sit les on your bum.. kinda. X)
But he still as that horrible racers trot the first rounds arund the arena, and we're still working on pretty much everything :) But that's how we get the gait we want.
