Did information on how to show my horse in Western Pleasure lite shod shows.

Hi,

I am thinking about showing my TWH in local Western Pleasure Show liite shod. I don't know the first thing about it. I am hoping that I can get some suggestions from some experience show people.

My horse has been showed several times and placed everytime.

What are some things that I need to know? What are some things that I should do to help prepare my horse for it.

Please help!!!

I am excited about the idea of showing but nervous about the fact that I don't know anything about it.

I have a friend who judges quarter horse pleasure classes. I don't know if there is any difference in what the judges look for w/gaited horses.

Does anyone know?

My first show I went into Novice classes, it was fun because everyone was new to showing and we all had a chance at placing going in, it also helps take the pressure off you and as a result your horse. Your boy is an old hand at showing if he's been before so likely knows his job going in. But a novice class is a great way to go in and get to know what the shows are like.

If you're going into liteshod, they are looking for the horse that walks the fastest with the most animation. Also make sure that in the liteshod you know the kind of shoeing, up here in Canada it doent make a big difference as we're all in regular shoes, but there is padding, weights, etc in USA and you want to know you go into the proper class for your shoes.

Other than that, just have fun!! He's a very nice looking guy!

I will check and see if they offer Novice in Western Pleasure. I would love to have the experience of showing a horse. I don't have to place in the class but sure would like to give it a try.

if you want more info on pads, weights, and chains for twh I would start a thread about it. Lots of ppl know about that heat they just havent commented. I would personally say not to bother with those as most of them cause harm to the horse immediately and long term. :)
Name the thread like twh pads, weights, chains - that will catch ppl's attention :)

I am not interested in using chains, weights or pads on my horse. I am interested in just local shows in western pleasure. I was wanting to learn about rules and regulations as well as rider and horse expectations.

This is just for fun and to have the experience. At the same time learn more about something I love .....Horses.
