I grew up riding gaited horses, TWHs mostly, so I came to this thread for a walk down memory lane.

And, I must add, I am SO happy at how many of you guys ride in snaffles or simple curbs. Where I grew up, if it was gaited it needed a Walking Horse bit, since their mouths and brains are different and everything. -eyeroll-

Beautiful horses, everyone.

Pattilou, my boy is only 14.2. I like shorter horses so I don't have to use a ladder:)

Same here! Sometimes, when I'm working on my Icelandic's tolt, I wonder why I didn't buy the lovely TWH with the natural, perfect running walk, then I remember that I'm 5'4" and what would I do with at 16.2 trail horse?

I have the opposite problem. LOL! I'm 5'11" and ride three different horses that are all 16 and 16.1h. Our sweet old TWH is just a hair shy of 15h and when I do hop on him bareback for sheer fun, I look like my feet are about to drag the ground. That's why he works so well for my kids. I was this height by age 14-15. I got my first horse then who was 17h and we were a great match. :)

That's funny. I always wanted to be shorter. I stuck out like a sore thumb in my jr. high classes. Now I have a 15 year old son who's 6'3". He doesn't ride though so no need for a Clydesdale or anything like that. ;)

I've always been a fan of the taller horses but it's also a pain that I have to use a mounting block to get on LOL.

I like a horse to be at least 15-2 hands cause at 6'1" I look leggy lol!!! I am looking at a 16 h walker tomorrow if the owner is feeling better, hopefully he is!
