Some good looking horses!

From the Dominican Republic.

We had been looking for a good Paso mare for Sereno. We fell in love with Miss Amelia while she was just standing around in the prep area before her first show. Beautiful solid copper color and very collected horse. She is the second horse in this vid. Before show price: $15K. After taking second place: $35K, then down to $23K
(should have made the deal before the show.)


The show people would have had a fit if they saw what we do with our Paso's. My wife had an injury and I was getting behind working our two. So I had our main man, Amado on Sereno helping me TRY to work Chican to get some exercise. Amado is 6'3" and I'm 5'6" so the stirrups as a little short for Amado. Amado also was still in training, his hands and arms are all over the place. Lol.


Paso Finos here and in most of South America are used to work cattle and just about anything else. They were the FIRST horses in the New World brought over by Columbus on his second voyage, not far from where we live in the Dominican Republic. This out back Paso with no real training has the same gate as those pro's above.

Her gaits are AMAZING!!

Love the Pink! Don't think it works with crabby old men on a stallion.

Thanks Serano. I like bling:) The pink looked terrible on my "old man" Appy gelding. Maybe it was just my perception since he is a leopard appy and obviously mostly white. He did not seem amused either.
I would definitely post a video if I could figure out how. I tried to post one of my mare playing twice and it did not work.

Hahaha Sereno I love that little "pitterpatterpitterpatter" when they go down the center strip! I should NOT be as amused by that as I am...

Seems so strange, coming from the non-gaited world... Is that so the judge can hear the tempo of the gait? I'm interested to know!

Being amused is OK. Have you ever seen vaulting? I'm seeing so many other disciplines as I look around here and on the web. Though different and I may not be interested in doing, some is amazing.

Yes, hearing the foot fall is very important. With the foot movement so fast it is very difficult to know if/when the gated movement falters. So the sound over the boards tells that. Some go so fast that even trying to listen for it is difficult. You can also watch the riders heads and see how smooth these horses are. The riders sit as still as they can using very little leg cues and only little ticks with tips of their fingers on the bit reins.

We load onto our computer then onto Youtube. It is easy to copy/paste then.

Sereno- you'd be surprised at the changes in the Paso Fino world Many show farms are starting to see the value in doing more with their Paso's than just arena work. Also with the horse market being down many farms have had to get those show horses out on the trails too. Then there are those who have always done those sort of things.
