Default Gaiting help? :) Post photos and critique them?

I havn't seen a thread like this here, what I remember.. but I think it could be a nice idea if everyone could post pictures of their horses, in gait, and then the rest of us try our best to see how good the gait is and perhaps give advies on how to improbve it? Not to mention ''what'' gait it is..:)

This page has some photos with comments.. but it seems you can't ask them to look at your photos anymore.

Anyway..
I'll just start posting a photo..

I think that he's quite diagonal here.. but I think it's within the lines of a runwalk? Or? I've only been able to judge after the photos on that site since we don't have any walkers here.. but I think so at least. Anyone who knows, or have any other comments?
I think it'll get better on hard groud and a bit more energy/speed..

Anyone with comments and/or pictures? :)

Looks like a show walk/flat-foot walk to me. With the running walk he would have a little more leg action.

You DO know that a PACE is LATERAL and a TROT is DIAGONAL,right? That gait (or whatever it is--probably a flat walk or the beginning of a running wak) is more lateral than anything...

Yes I do...
It was some friend whosaid something about it being diagonal when the foot was in the ground with ththe knee.. I dunno. x) It made sense at the time and I havn't figured out how the legs would continue moving, (= I don't have a clear picture of it in my mind).

I think I got the diagonal thing because the right frotleg and left hindleg is moving forward at the same time, even if the frontleg is way ahead..

You can join Elftown - The fantasy & science fiction community, art & stories :P They let you upload pictures, they never delete them (unless they violate the UAR against violence, porn etc.. ) It's a community for artists and fantasy lovers and hangarounds, lots of interesting people there, including horse people. Only ''bad'' thing is that untill you've come across as a decent person, you can only upload pictures to your bio, which limits it to 500x1000pixels. But after being there a while without breaking the rules, you'll easily get privs to upload to wikis and then there is no size limit.
It's a fun place and great to upload pictures to. (Nooo..I havn't been there for 5 years and even been one of the higher admins there.. *innocent*)

I'll stick my neck out again x)

Ok.. these first pictures..
I like his frame and he felt somewhat relaxed.. but the gait.. it's pretty much stepping pace, isn't it? :/ Or is it the face of the step that confuses me, the hindleg being most in action instead of the front? In any case, it's too pacey, isn't it?
It felt pretty smooth.

And this was.. not comfortable at all. It must have been taken when he was that awfully bouncy, if nothing else it looks like it when I'm boncing all over his back in the picture, and my..err..screwed up face wen I want him to stop. x)
Way to diagonal, isn't it? Looks pretty much like an utterly bad trot to me.. :(
Felt like it too.

I'm still leaning a bit forward, but I tried to remember to tuck my butt under me.. and concidering I'm an awfully sway-backed person, it looks like I did it here too.. any comment on me? :S I don't have a saddle yet, it's still broken. And the one I have puts me in a horrible posture.
I was way too tensed up when riding today, wanting so badly to get that great gait he has and being all disappointed and annoyed when not only didn't I get it, but he acted up like he never uses to do normally and refused to cooperate, give to the rein or anything (which is also why I havn't given him the rein back, and o the pictures I did he's just.. horrible all over and me too, so..) But these were taken at the few minutes he felt somewhat decent to ride at least,.. and when I now forced my friend to take pictures and all that I felt I should show them as well.. >_>
