Wink Getting new saddle for my ASB.

I don't ride all too much but when I do I actually want my horse to be for the most part, comfortable as possible. The saddle I first got him is pinching him but at the time I didn't know any better and was being told getting padding would fix the problem. Well, it doesn't and I figured it's time to get Ziggy a new saddle.

I've pretty much decided on a gaited abetta saddle but I would love some input. =3

Abetta saddles are sturdy, cheap, fairly comfortable and fit a lot of horses. They have a semi-QH tree or a full QH tree depending on how wide your horse it. Gaited means the tree is problably flared out a bit wider in front. Look your horses back over, take measurements and get one that fits him. Like shoes: fit and comfort are very important and the size 8 shoe that is comfy on my foot might make yours feel miserable.

.

Abetta make a Gaited Saddle, but it's Tree only fits the Foundation Style, Wide Gaited Horses.

As far as comfort, depends on the person, they run about 50/50 as far as averages on what people say about comfort for themselves.

Ziggy is pretty narrow. It's just super hard to get a saddle that will fit him properly. (He is the ASB in my horses.) I will be going to a tack shop this tuesday with some people from my stables in hopes that I will find one that will match him. More worried about him then me.. but it would be a bonus if it's super comfy fo rme. Otherwise it's a gel seat cover for me!

Ziggy does have some high withers and large shoulders, there are a few people who make Gaited Saddles in a Medium and a Wide version.

The Abettas and Bighorns are for the wider Horse, you would probably have to go with an All leather Model, which are a little more expensive.

I would suspect he needs a Medium, but without measuring not 100%, he definitely would not take a wide.

Bighorn has one model that is a Medium/Wide that just might fit 16" Big Horn Brown Cordura Gaited Horse Saddle High Withers 257

Maybe your local shop might have that model to try out.

Thanks for the input I really appreciate it. I am hoping that my stable mates along with the owner of this shop can help me find the perfect saddle. Gaited saddles seem to be rare in my area so I am jumping and jivving to see if there is one at this tack shop. I've been to three shops without finding any gaited saddle. (Which is sad because it was well over a 100 saddles i've looked at!) One shop I know can order a brand spanking new saddle. However, although I would love new...new is just not for me!
