I have several Missouri Fox trotters. Most of them when relaxed simply feel relaxed, some relax their ears and they do flop, Head movement also indicates relaxation. Never had one make noises though. I do have one that sticks its tongue out their mouth even with a cavison on. I bet the snorting is due to more breathing and possible dust trying to remove from the respiratory track.

My mare only snorts at me when she's tired haha...my gelding if fhe is feeling awake will snort and blow when he is in gait, but he's usually just doing it because he's frisky.

I think I know the sound Diegosmom means. I remember hearing it in a ring full of western pleasure horses at a small show. The horses were doing that weird overly collect lope with their noses near the ground.

I heard that TWH can do strange things when relaxed at a gait. They can click their teeth, make a noise, or their ears can flop. That's what mine does. It's nice to know she's relaxed.
