Look for a natural class. It is amazing how TWH move without all the extra crap. There's nothing to me, in the horse world, more beautiful than a natural gaiting TWH

Agreed Rascaholic! They are lovely in their natural state, as are all horses; gaited or not.

Many breeders of TWs, now refer to their horses simply as "Walking Horses", to let buyers know they are in no way connected to this type of show practices.

This has been going on a long time though the Big Lick people deny it.
Join a TWH horse forum & try to discuss it with them. I have & was almost instantly banned. Good times

The big lick horses can't show in Wisconsin, I'm not sure of other States.

Can we all agree that big lick just looks stupid and makes no sense? I love a running walk on a either barefoot or regular shod walker. No need t "accuentate" it in any way. Its beautiful without any aids.

I finally watched the nightline video of McConnell....

It brought tears to my eyes....

What's even worse is the man doesn't seem to think he did anything wrong.

Some people out there don't care about nothing, I mean nothing! Anyone with half a heart wouldnt cause intentional harm to a animal, its sick just sick.

That was just sick. Note what Jenna Jackson said, "it becomes an addiction...I couldn't believe the monster I had become..." The big lick has been going on since the 50's, which is nearly sixty years. We now have people who have grown up in the industry and honestly see nothing wrong with what they are doing; they know no other way of training and the big lick looks normal to them.

The big lick/pads just needs to stop, all of it. The TWH is a shadow of its former self, the gait has been long ago bred out and now nearly every TWH paces/step paces. It's a rare Walker who has a natural walk.

Take a look at this video from 1949. It's a completely different gait than we see now, even on natural walkers. There's none of the swingy pace that the breeders want these days.

Ack! I just checked my link and it says "disabled". Odd, I can still watch it on YouTube. If you type this into the header it should bring up the video. My apologies.
