I agree. I have seen more then one Pasos who are tough to break. But then I have also seen some who are the sweetest horses you will ever meet.

You don't need me to say this but I agree with everyone. Why feed him grain at all if he's already fat? Good luck with him!

First of all the pictures arent good enought to determine his body scale. I would just be a stocky horse. I expect my stocky qh to weigh more at 15 hands the a lean throughbred at 16 hands. No one mentioned that you should just be taking him right off grain. It should be a gradual decrease over a few weeks. He really should have been gradually put onto the new feed you just bought him as well.

I have a 6 year old Paso. He is the sweetest, most calm wonderful horse I've EVER owned and I've owned A LOT of horses...all gaited!! He is absolutely brilliant and loves people. Watch the bloodlines and you can find calm Pasos easily!! Having said that...Pasos gain weight VERY easily! They are little air ferns! I agree with everyone here. Gradullay get him off grain and ride his butt off! Make him gait up and down hills. Do you ride in double reins!? This will help him keep collected and build his topline fast while you are going up and down the hills!

Congrats on your purchase! You will be amazed at how you will fall in love with this breed. They are VERY devoted to their owners!
