:D Hi everyone! I want to thank all of you who helped me with my questions on confirmation for trail horses!! I did buy the little Rocky Mountain mare from Charleston, WV that several of you kind folks took the time to view her videos. Her name is Tiger Eye Gypsy, she's a registered, DNA proven Chocolate (although her mane and tail are not completely flaxen, mostly just on the ends, and her forelock is flaxen). I am so pleased with her, and the trainer at my barn was very impressed with the amount of work the folks i bought her from have put into her. They delivered her on 10/22 and stayed with us for 2 hours, giving us some pointers on riding her gaits, demonstrating her trained cues, etc. She is small, but very athletic. She and my 12 year old daughter bonded instantly...love at first sight! I will post some pics (hopefully I can figure out how lol). I just love her smoooooth gait and willing attitude!! And I would highly recommend the folks I bought her from! Looking forward to lots of great conversations with you all here on this forum!

She looks lovely, congratulations! Rockies are awesome horses, I've never found a horse more level-headed and sensible than my Rocky. On the trail he was unbeatable: go anywhere, do anything. Such a great horse to work with.

I'm a little jealous, I'd love to own another one!

Welcome tot he forum!

As far as snow is concerned, if your mare needs shoes, then ask your farrier about borium. It is welded in spots on the shoe to help prevent slipping on ice and on pavement.

One thing I noticed in the third picture that concerned me was the fact that you have the saddle sitting loosely on her back without the cinch tightened but the breast collar is. That can be a recipe for a wreck. If your horse shakes or moves quickly and the saddle slips, the breast collar could cause the saddle to spook your horse since the saddle can't fall off but can get tangled around the mare.

Rule of thumb is to undo the hobble strap, then the tugs on the breast collar before undoing the cinch.

Other then that, I hope you really get to enjoy her! (love the Penn State sweatshirt)

Lol thanks! We had just got that saddle and tack set delivered and were just trying it on. I couldn't cinch up the girth because it's missing some leather ties, so I took a couple of quick pics before taking it all off. I was just so happy that the saddle fit! My TWH was always so difficult to fit :) But in the future I will pay attention to that, thanks! Any horse can spook, especially when in a new place, but seriously nothing seems to bother this mare. I rode her on the rode for just a piece to get to the field to ride in, and of course there's very little traffic on that road except for when we were on it :) A motorcycle, a bicyclist, and an ATV all came past, and not a blink from her! And that was only her 2nd day there. The former owners did so much de-sensitizing with her, and boy do I appreciate that! I know you are right in your advice though, I'm just sayin I'm so proud of my new girl ;)

I wondered who bought Gypsy! I was looking at her a couple months ago. Had she been taller I would have snatched her up! Congrats! I know you are going to enjoy her.

Thanks!! She's a fine height for me...at my age, easier to get off and on on the trail lol ;) She has put on a little weight, and I'll be darned if she isn't filling out already, like Mike said he thought she would. The hilly pastures are doing her good!
