I'm going to give him a try this Saturday, take a test ride and see how it goes. I'd consider myself somewhere between an Advanced Beginner/Intermediate rider, mostly because I haven't ridden on a regular basis in quite a while. I find it all comes back to me once I get in the saddle...

Worst case scenario is I drive 3 hours to ride him and decide he's too spooky. If he behaves well and doesn't seem to startle or spook and is just curious about his surroundings I think we'll do OK. I'd much rather have a horse who is a bit of a looky-loo and curious than a total deadhead who just plods along following the tail in front of him.

Will post an update after next weekend!

He looks like he needs miles...He doesnt look rough, or 'spooky' he just likes to look at his surroundings which is ok for the trail, not so much for the rail...For me personally he doesnt move good enough, however with your riding abilities I'd say he would be good to start at, and the more miles you put on him the better rider you will be and the better horse he will be...just my .02

Can't beat the price, plus he is a good looking fellow. I think you should go give him a try.

I think he is a stocky looking boy. Nice color and it looks like he is a decent size. You can tell he is trying to pay attention to his rider by the way he is keeping one ear back. I don't see any lameness but his gait isn't smooth.

His gait looks fine to me. He LOOKS spooky, but that doesn't necessarily mean he is. My mare looks spooky because she has blue eyes, always has her ears up, and always looks at everything. But she doesn't spook at ALL. The part I'm most concerned with is his steering. In the first video, the guy was trying to get him to go right and he just went the ENTIRE way with his head bent. A horse with bad steering = SUPER annoying on the trails.

It can be fixed, though : ]

I hope all goes well for when you try him out !
    Let us know.

Now I want to give my 2 cents lol,
I don't think he looks spooky, Just paying attention to his surroundings, I think the handler is making him look like something he is not and being a bit rough on the bit, or in controlling him.

I don't know, but he looks good, and he's cute too which is a bonus !
