This has to be the last gasps of the TWHBEA once Elvis turns his back on you. Elvis loved his Walkers (I think the only reason why my Mom allowed us horses :) and with a bus sized PR nightmare gassing up, the Big Lick is all but dead.

We have to keep the pressure on Congress to pass the PAST act and a bus from CA to TN to remove a Big Lick representative will be just the nail to put into the Big Lick coffin.

I'm not sure if her action on this is the best... (Just thinking out loud). Celebrities are always in a position to make a difference and I don't know what would make the greater difference, removing the trophy for disagreeing with the evils of the show circuit or asking that it be used somehow to deter people from taking the shortcuts that are so abusive... Of course... I don't have any idea how to approach that...

I see this in the AQHA world and it makes me really sad. My dream has always, always been to show in AQHA shows, congress and even world some day. I had no idea what it took to win in those circuits. I really thought that it would be a very regulated circuit with only the finest trainers. It's not. The shows are huge and expensive and the abuse is everywhere and quite often people turn their heads. :(

Wonder how much money it will take for her to "come to a different conclusion" when they talk??

I seriously doubt the Sellabration has that much.

I doubt the celebration has that much money either. It's lost money several years running. It would also be a PR nightmare for Priscilla to change her mind now.

Taking it back, then maybe returning it later once the dust has cleared for a working trail class or a gaited dressage class maybe but not anything like the lame crab walk class. Maybe even do something radical like give the trophy over to AERC for a high mileage endurance walker in their competitions.

I've never understood the ribbon at all costs mentality. One of the nicest horse shows I've ever watched was put on by a small local club. They announced every so often that there were no ribbons for the adult classes. The few ribbons were for the kids. Everybody cheered everyone else on and helped each other. Always a hardy round of applause from the stands and at the end of the day the extra money was used for a cookout. Lots of smiling kids and parents, no painted false faces.

Sue, me either!! I used to show a good bit, but I always did multiple kinds of shows at one time, and had fun at all of them, ribbons or not.

The saddest thing was the Paint show where we used to volunteer. Towards the middle of the show, the little girls would start running up to us to check on their high-point status. Not ONE of them needed ANOTHER trophy saddle!! One of my farriers was making about 20 saddle-topped barstools for one of those families!

For the pro's, though, it is hard to get clients if you can't say you won some, I guess.

While the taking back of the trophy in of itself is not going to make an immediate nor drastic change to the Big Lickers, it does help bolster those supporting sound horses. Honestly, the TWHBEA is making some monumentally stupid decisions and if the Soreabration keeps hemorrhaging money (along with the decertification of SHOW) we won't have to wait for Congress, the Big Lickers will be the architects of their own demise.

I doubt this woman is hurting for money but greed is an evil thing. I am going to look at this as being another stepping stone towards ending Performance forever. I say....You go Priscilla.
