I love my NSH. I can't say enough good things about him. I also love other horse breeds as well. I wouldn't say hurtful things about someone else's horse as I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings. Every horse breed has unique and interesting characteristics that I find extremely fascinating. The more I learn the more I appreciate them.

This is what so often happens in forums. Someone makes a statement that offends someone else and then everyone else seems to jump in. Harsh words and insults start going back and forth from all sides. It goes from an adult discussion to a juvenile free for all in just a few posts.

Sure the first poster made some strong statements that might have been worded a bit better. She has an opinion and she stated it. Maybe she was not as well informed on certain things as she might of been. However others read her posts, seemed to take them as an insult to their favorite breed and flamed back. Others got defensive and started slamming her for her beliefs. And so it went. No one convinces anyone else that they are wrong in these verbal free for all. It ends up beings just a bunch of yelling back and forth.

We all have our favorite breeds which we feel are better than the others, at least for us. We like watching them, talking about them and of course defending them from anyone who might not like them like we do. And in all breeds, stuff goes on that should not. Even things that are gentle in some hands, can be cruel in other hands. Agreed? So can we shake hands, so to speak, and go on. I love a lively discussion but he said/she said matches get no where for anyone.

Well-Maybe you ALL need to look up the definition of NATURAL HORSEMANSHIP too because anybody who says anything of how "Bike chain bits are fine if used correctly" and "Tail sets aren't any worse than a saddle or blanket" are crazy. Gosh- people wonder why horses act the way they do. People don't think about what the horse feels or thinks. All they think about is themselves and the blue ribbons. I meant saddlebreds in the show ring are ugly. Do you really think the stacked shoes, the elastic bands, and all of that is really pretty? I have two saddlebreds at my facility right now that are as beautiful as everything else out there. Because they are trail horses and the people that own them would never hurt a fly... And just because I have different opinions than you all, doesn't mean that it's wrong, it's just not what you think or believe. Sure- there is some cruelty and abuse in the Arabian world but arabs are not allowed half the stuff that people can do to saddlebreds- Fake tails, changing hoof color, etc. I stopped riding them because I couldn't bear to see the stuff they were doing to them anymore. Sure some of them can live to be older than what I mentioned but you are not looking at the bad things either. You are only looking at the good to try to prove me wrong. OPINIONS!?!?!

All of the saddlebreds I have seen/been around/Worked with, look like this:

As for Tennessee Walkers- Tennessee Walking Horse Show 2 year Old Mares and Geldings - YouTube

Two year olds? Really?

As I said, My opinions will not be changed and that is that. I did not come here to start an argument or fight, I simply posted my opinion.

As a new member, maybe you should read the Forum Rules.

Conscientious Etiquette Policy

Quote:
If your post is nasty, condescending, rude, etc., regardless of how subtle, and whether shrouded in the form of opinion or otherwise, it is subject to be removed and your access to the Horse Forum may be restricted.

This applies to the Critique forum as well. People come here because they are passionate about their horses. Naturally, a biting critique about an animal a person is passionate about can be very hurtful. While a request for critique implicitly invites criticism, the sensitive nature of such topics is all the more reason to post conscientiously, keeping the other person's feelings in mind.

Our interest in preserving the nature of the community trumps our interest in allowing everyone to share their opinion here. If you can't share your opinion in such a way so as to preserve the friendly, fun, helpful nature of the community, don't.

So, what does Natural Horsemanship have to do with this?
