So, I'm getting her!

If all goes well at the vet check on Wednesday, I will be signing a Bill of Sale and registration paper transfer for my first Tennessee Walker!

Rosie is a 15 yr old TWHBEA registered mare, about 15.1hh dark bay/black with a tiny white star. She's a bit chunky right now, needs regular riding to tone her up!

That's her "summer" color, in the winter she's darker like this:

I can't wait for Wednesday!! :)

Yeah, she went from being ridden regularly to being ridden just 4-5 times the past two summers. So, I'll be working off that belly by starting her out with some walking, slow gaiting for a bit then moving on to some cantering once she's lost a bit of weight and built up some more muscle. She's a really nice ride, smooth as butter - a nice easy slow gait plus she can kick it up to a pretty good clip if you ask her to. I got to ride her for a 2.5hr trail ride as a test ride, so I got a pretty good feel for how she handles just about everything!

Thinking of trimming her mane down, to get the reddish ends off of it. Will see if it grows in nice and dark again. Might start her on some black oil sunflower seeds or paprika in her grain to see if that helps her keep her dark coat.

Congratulations on your new gaited horse! How exciting!

Most people are like Slinkies; they serve no real purpose, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.
When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on for dear life.

WOOO HOO! Rosie's mine! The vet check went perfectly and she's settling into her new home quite nicely. I spent 7 hours at the barn with her today! Will probably head out tomorrow in between eating turkey and eating more turkey! :P
