I am SO glad to hear Blossom is everything you wanted and more. Happy trails to both of you and enjoy your retirement. So good to find all your worry was just that.

It would be good if they would take you on a short trail ride with another horse and rider, not just have you try him out around their yard or riding ring. I bought my best trail horse after observing him on a trail ride for several days not knowing he was even for sale, and not being in the market for another horse. Paid $5,000 for him without even sitting on him (as other people were coming to try him). A lot of money for a trail horse, but I have now owned him for 11 years, and he's one of the best trail horses I have ever owned. He's 21 years old now, and I DREAD the day he ages out on me. By the way, I'm 76, so maybe we will age out together...

New to this forum and didn't check the date on the post about a walking horse to be tried out. Sorry about that. But I have a question. When my reply was posted, I noticed on the left side about me it said I own no horses, when, in fact, I have two. Can't figure out how to correct that.

Welcome, Onehorse. I believe it shows 0 horses for you because of the way you've set up your profile - in other words you don't have any photos/description of your horses in the appropriate section ("Your Barn").

Welcome Onehorse, I also show no horses, but currently have 5 and 1 on the way. I just choose not to post them since I never remember to update things half the time.

And you weren't digging up a dead thread, we had all actually been waiting for Hag On Nag to update us on how she was doing with her new ride. She did, it was good news we had all hoped to hear.

Seems like around the holidays we all get busy and don't always keep up to date on threads.

HagOnNag,
I've been not keeping up with HF friends for a while, and just happened on this thread for the first time today! I am so, so, so happy for you! Your post of 11-19-11 and most recent one brought tears to my eyes, that you've had such good luck with your new Blossom. I'm so happy you're doing so well, and I know exactly how you feel about your new horse....I had a year-long spell of bad horse luck ending with a cracked skull a few years ago, just tootling down the driveway (yes, without a helmet). After that, hubby grounded me until I had a better horse. I found my TWH mare, Windy, a finished trail horse. It took me over a year to get my confidence back; I drove her nuts I'm sure....at one point I just told her that I had to trust her to do her job, because that was the only way I was going to get past this. I was about 52 at the time, younger than you, and far fewer healing bones, LOL. Now, 4 years later, we've trailered with friends (without hubby) to trail rides, cow-horse clinics for fun, and am learning something new every year. Safely. It's great fun again, and that is my wish for you as well. Happy, happy trails!
