I've seen some with slight stifle issues. It comes with age. One of the horses my instructor uses for lessons sometimes has to stretch out on it.

My MFT has a slight case of UFP. What exactly are you trying to find out?

My barn owner's TWH has a problem with his stifle, she said sometimes his leg will just go out from under him.

Any horse as it gets older can have this problem. This is just not a TWH horse problem. I have heard many pop just when they walk. Sometimes conditioning by walking up and down hills will help it.

The worst stifle issue I've seen is on a 16yo Appaloosa.. no TWH in him anywhere.

But TWH and other gaited breeds seem more predisposed to it.

Well he came up lame and at first I thought his ankle only because he had some sweling in it. But he was always standing on his toe and didn't want to put weight on it. Refused to back up. I had a young filly that her stifle did it but hers was mainly from weakness in it..JR's case isn't weakness. I vetted him yesterday and the vet seems to think the same as I ,,the stifle. She said that he could be popping it out and then it pop back in.So he is on bute 2x a day and rest. No signs of abcess in hoof, ankle joint is good and hock ok..I was just wondering of anyone has dealt with this or any stifle issue and what was the long term for it...This is my bud of horses and I hate the thought of having to lose him as my riding horse.
