Pull the plug in the bath tub!

Three people check into a hotel. They pay $30 to the manager and go to their room. The manager finds out that the room rate is $25 and gives the bellboy $5 to return to the guests. On the way to the room the bellboy reasons that $5 would be difficult to split among three people so he pockets $2 and gives $1 to each person. Now each person paid $10 and got back $1. So they paid $9 each, totaling $27. The bellboy has another $2, adding up to $29.
Where is the remaining dollar?

Even if someone gets the answer or I give it, it will leave some people still scratching their heads, I did anyway lol. I'm horrible at math.

The $2 is still as part of payed to the hotel so the hotel has a total of $27 and the people have $3 so 27+3 is $30 :)

The bellboy was being nice and knew the men would find it hard to split the extra 5 dollars so gave one dollor to each and kept the two

Sort of, according to the customers I guess, that's the really easy way of looking at it, but how would you explain that to someone who is looking at the equation 3x9=27+2=29?

Its a mathmatical problem... there is no missing dollor
