Only to satisfy my curiosity. I have never played them or am really even interested in them (I'm too old). But...
A few years ago there was this rather uppity equine web-building site that seemed to have a seething hatred for horse sim games and those who played them. They had an article on one of their pages stating things like these games all steal bandwidth, and also if you play them you're infringing on copyright, blah blah blah. And how they were going to shut down as many of these online games as they possibly could. And all you little snot-nosed 12-year-old girls playing: you'd better watch your backs too, because we're coming for you with our bloodthirsty lawyers next! (Not the exact words, but that was the gist of it.)
And as I'm reading this (I was at the time new to computers and the internet) I'm scratching my head going "Huh?!" Even all these years later I'm still not sure why they had their panties in a bunch. I don't really play games online- hardly ever. But aren't horse sim games basically just video games? Why the fuss? A few animated colored pixels on a screen is somehow grand larceny?
I couldn't find that article now. Either the website itself is gone, or that page has been removed. (Or maybe I just didn't search enough.) But I haven't forgotten it and still can't make a bit of sense out of their vicious rant on...a game.
Can anyone enlighten me?
