Just wanted to say thank you, she was dreadfully afraid of people when I first got her and that was one of the first times I got to touch her... think it was the first time she didn't try to run away when I did.
Roperchick, that's just my round pen. The rest of my fencing is wire. And half my round pen got demolished the other day because my silly red mare decided to try to jump out.
RC, she wasn't troublemaking, she was scared. Idk why she was scared, I wasn't doing anything particularly different or challenging compared to usual, but she was scared. Saw the "escape" over the round pen fence and tried to take it before she could think about the other escapes of changing direction (what I was asking for) or cutting across the middle of the round pen (what I would have accepted as ok)
I feel your pain. Weeks before I got my new mare, she was chilling in the roundpen and one of the donkeys that got let out to graze and wander around decided to follow her around from the outside of the roundpen. Apparently, she is absolutely terrified of donkies and literally tried THROWING all 16.1 hands of her beefy self over the panels to escape.
Lol thanks, cute horse for sure but that farm gate? It doesn't open, never did, never will - it was a repair job done before we moved here. And now it's two farm gates because red mare demolished another section of the round pen including one of those big thick posts.
