I knew she had a talent, and I was determined to make her shine. I was going to show jump her. And when opal was grown, she would jump as well. Diamond showed talent. That night as I brushed my teeth, I thought about mine and Diamonds future together. I thought of a show name fore her : Shining Diamond. As I climbed into be that night and drifted off to sleep, a dream was forming.

****The dream: The crowd was cheering Diamond and I entered the ring and picked up a canter. We went through the course together as one and cleared it perfectly in the fastest time. We won the Gold for our team at THE OLYMPICS?! As we went home I put the medal with the hundreds of others we had one. Dream Change. I was riding Opal, she didn't really seem to like jumping she kept refusing the jumps. I brought out a western saddle to clean for my friend and Opal came over from her stall and started nudging it...was she telling me something? Dream change. Opal and I were in an arena, we went in and I realized we were in a reining competition. We won as easily as eating or drinking.***** I woke with a start to realize, this dream just told me the future of Opal and Diamond. I knew what I had to do today.

Would Opal turn out to be a western pleasure horse or a reining horse? I wasn't sure but as soon as she was old enough to be broken in, I would test her skill. Diamond was going very well with her showjumping and she showed off her talent. It was strange for an arabian to be a showjumper. Opal was growing into a beautiful filly. She had a long silver tail and a silver coat to match and beautiful Ice-blue eyes. It was only 1 month until she could start her training. It was highly anticipated.

Does anyone else want to play?

That day I went to the tack shop and started looking through Western saddles. I wasn't planning on buying one yet but I was looking. Back home, Diamond was getting frisky, She was dancing around her paddock. I decided to let her be and go get Opal...thats when I knew why she was anxious....Opal was missing!

Where was Opal? There was a river near by, and the forest. She could be in either one of those. I rang everywhere I knew and then we started a search party. Starting at the river. No sing of her. Then we went to the forest. Then we saw a pure white shape in the blackberry bush.Opal. Was she ok?

We took her home and luckily the vet was already there. She looked over Opal and found a cut that was so deep she might have to be taken in to surgery. As they took her away in the trailer I went inside and started crying so hard that I barely heard Diamonds Whinny and the fence crack. I ran outside to see Diamond trying to go after Opal. I went into the paddock and soothed her telling her everything would be ok. That night, we both fell asleep together, dreaming about Opal. That morning I woke up and saw the vet coming. She came up to me and told me the worst news ever. Over night, Opal had gotten posiened and was in intensive care. It was a 1% chance she would be cured and would cost a fortune for the surgery anyways.

It was the hardest decision I had to make in my life but my parents, me and the vet knew what needed to be done. When I returend to the paddock, empty handed dimoned nickered looking for the foal she would never see again.

Whe Diamond realized Opal was never coming back she and I went into serious depression mood. We both couldn't eat, or sleep and she was always walking around not accepting the fact Opal was never coming back. Slowly we got back into training to get her mind of Opal. My parents realizing I was missing Opal so much, Bought me a new saddle, and signed me up for lessons with a top trainer. They also had another surprise for me....Our first show was 3 weeks away!

The lessons were great and the saddle fittied Diamond perfectly. Our show was only 2 weeks away now and we had been practicing non stop for a week. Diamond was in top form and I was riding better than ever. We were going to win this show at all costs. For Opal.

The show was here, and it was our big moment. My trainer, parents and everyone I cared about was in the sidelines. We were 10th out of 15 competitors, and until then I was giving Diamond a pep talk while grooming her. Our turn was up and we picked up the canter. Sailing over the first jump, I noticed that something was wrong....Diamond was getting distracted by all the noise. I had to keep her going. So far we were in the lead but Diamond knocked down a pole on the next jump. We sailed over the next few but Diamond's heart wasn't in it. I was about to give up forcing her to do something when I saw a flash of gold..I looked around and I swear I saw Opal. Whether it was her or not, it gave us both the courage to finish. We came in first and after we got our ribbon we went to the trailer only to see the vet standing there with Opal....what was going on?
