Ten Things About Your Favourite Horse

Each person has to type 10 things about their favourite horse and name the horse.

Coloured Billy

1. Brilliant at cantering.
2. Backed into a stall without any help from me twice.
3. Will let you pick out his front hooves (but not the back hooves).
4. He went from canter to trot to walk very smoothly.
5. Stopped cantering when I fell.
6. Doesn't need to be kicked much when I want to walk, trot or canter(most of the time).
7. Very quiet.
8. Likes to bite the whip for some reason.
9. A very good worker.
10. Doesn't kick.

My horse High Five is definitely my favorite. He's an eight year old bay/brown American Quarter Horse gelding who competes in cutting and occasionally speed events.

1. He's very antisocial. He prefers to be left alone, that includes being away from other horses.
2. He has a pretty rough trot, but an amazing rocking horse canter.
3. He clicks with only one person, and luckily enough, that person is me. He is still nice to other people, but there is an obvious connection between him and myself.
4. He always tries to eat my hair. (I guess because he thinks it is hay. Lol)
5. VERY eager pleaser. He always tries his best to do the task at hand, and gives one hundred and fifty percent in the arena and on the trails.
6. He's scared to death of lawnmowers. (and I've tried to correct the problem but he still is jittery around them)
7. Surprisingly, he's a big baby. You'd think since he was a stocky cow horse that he wouldn't mind getting dirty, but he's actually a prima donna.
8. He works completely off of leg cues, and get's frustrated when people use the reins too much with him.
9. He likes to drink beer. Lol.
10. I've owned him since he was three.

6. I think she's beautiful
7. Never bucked or reared once during breaking
8. Lots of spunk, spirit and fire
9. Ridiculously smart
10. Always polite, never kicks, bites, strikes out, pins ears etc

He put up with my silly, noob attempts at training, riding, and caring for him with humor and grace.

As I got older and more experienced, he still put up with me, and daresay even loved me in his fashion.

I always thought I was a pretty good rider. Come to find out, what I had was a great horse.

I don't need to tick off 10 things about that animal; everything he was is encompassed in those 3 previous sentences.

I have missed him every single day since the vet eased him out of this life.

King, My heart horse

Perfectly patient...better than patient.
A perfect partnership. I looked to him for advice and he would get himself into sticky situations and would wait for my help
Smart and quick...rarely are horses both. King was.
A great teacher. I bought him as a total noob. Didn't even own a saddle my first year. He taught me right from wrong in the best way he could.

That's the lovey stuff. King was perfect...as others have said, I miss him every single day. When I see other horses, I don't think about riding. I think about how they could never be King.

Heres the more superficial stuff

Brilliant bright sorrel. So red he could have had his own country music CD
Fast. Very Fast. Smoked quite a few OTTB's and racing QH's in his time.
Calm. I'd only ever seen him freak once. My step mom was dressing him for costume class and poked him in the forelock area with a fake flower. She got scolded by the both of us
Versatile. In 4-H and tri-state shows we rode and were always at the top of our class. We rode games, western pleasure/eq, english pleasure/eq, hunter hack and HUS, Halter and more.
Forgiving. No matter the mistake, he never took it personal. I hope he kept that attitude. I know he didn't know it was for the best when I had to move him to a theraputic riding center...I just hope he forgave me for it.

Kat. Though she's passed now.
1. I had her since birth.
2. She never once kicked or bit me.
3. She was very smart, I taught her to lay down in one day.
4. I broke her in myself.
5. She had the smoothest canter.
6. She would go on the bit without pressure on her mouth.
7. She was scared of puddles, but loved cantering into the dam. That was cute.
8. She was perfect on roads and with other horses.
9. She was just amazing.
10. I was the only one that could get her to canter. And all I did was squeeze, and tell her to.
