Advice on choosing a foundation?

I use Clinique's Acne Solutions foundation right now. It is ok, but being a liquid it seems to make my face very shiny and isn't doing much for my acne. I'm thinking of trying something different.

I came across this foundation here: Sephora: Cover FX Powder FX Mineral Powder Foundation: Powder Foundation

I like the idea of the mineral foundation and a nice matte finish. It sounds like it is good to use a primer though and that is extremely expensive!! $45 dollars for a bottle. The foundation is $35 so that's not so bad. Do you think I'd need the primer?

What kind of foundation do you wear and what have you found best for preventing or clearing up breakouts. I have acne quite bad so it can't be something that will make it worse!!

What about bare minerals? My mom, aunt and I wear it. I think it's supposed to help prevent acne..but I'm not sure. When I wear it, I don't get half as many pimples as I do with other makeup. Just make sure you wash your face every night (you probably already know that).

Also, I think that MAC has good mineral foundation. I was going to get some..but it's out of my price range. I forget what kind of primer I wear, but it works great. I hate the look of my makeup without it. Just's called Prime Time..sephora makes it. It's probably what your talking about..cause it's kind of expensive. But you only use a pea size amount everyday. I have a little bottle, and it's lasted a long time.

I was wondering about the bare minerals. I have fairly bad acne though - would it cover enough?

I'll check into the Mac foundation too. Thank-you!

I use Bare Minerals. Expensive, but it is one of the few that I don't break out from and I find I use less of it so it lasts longer.

I think that bare minerals would cover you enough. My mom had bad skin, because she was allergic to her previous makeup. The bare minerals gives her a medium coverage. I think that with bare minerals you can have any kind of coverage you want. All you have to do is put more on for a full coverage. I barely put any on, and it covers me pretty well. Also no one ever knows I wear makeup. :)

Just make sure that you buy the right color match for your skin.

If you go to a salon that carries it, they will usually help match the color to you, and you have two choices on finish, matte or original. I use the matte.

As for coverage, it's great. I use it heavy some days, light on others and haven't had any issues covering what I wanted to cover. :)

Have you tried treating the acne first instead of just covering it? Because a lot of times, foundation can make acne worse as it stuffs up your pores.

Sephora: Bare Escentuals Sephora Exclusive Get Started Kit ($174 Value): Combination Sets

Yup... bare Minerals is the way to go... It's great! I love the bronzer! I use it as a blush and it looks really natural on my face. (If you don't put too much that is ;)

On days where my acne is heavy, I put more. It doesn't make it 100% invisible, but it hides the redness and does the trick. Makes my skin look much more even. When I am at school, for some reason in the afternoon you can see all my scares again, so I started using the prime time and it help keep the powder on my face longer.

I would try it out. It's pricey but it comes with everything you need and it lasts a long time.

Cream foundations are heavy and ya... they block the pores. Mineral powder doesn't and you hardly feel it on your face. :)
