Little trivia- Those were Matthew McConaugheys first words on film. Unscripted and improvised scene. And that kicks off the latest Friday Conversation. Weather seems better for the most part for everyone, so thinking lots of weekend plan for folks. So let's hear them. A real batch of random things for the kickoffs this week.
Astrology- much like the ghost stories thread interested in thoughts. Do you read your horoscope daily? Read about it? I'm sure there is more to it I know. My only sort of experience with it is kinda odd. So I was starting to see this girl. She was nice and all. Ended up on night at one of those large bookstores with coffee shop. Pretty standard. Made out way over to that section. She pulled out books and started to read. Must admit what she read about me matched me fairly close. Then got to hers. After that she explains why we could not be together. I was like ok. Either she is really serious, and that's it or this is the most elaborate brush off/friendzoning I have ever seen.
Was wondering what's the best friendzoning you have done/received?
Reddit- I go there from time to time. Yes mostly cats and dog pics. But it do like the TIL. One of the things things I learned was about Mr. Rogers. For those who saw he used to come in the door and would explain everything in detail how he was changing shoes, sweater, feeding fish. He did this in detail because a father wrote in that his 8 year old girl was blind and she worried about the fish getting food. So he included details to include all children.
What are some of small things like that you have learned?
What other sites do you find interesting/ informational? Any for your non horse related hobbies?
What's your favorite album and why? I know that's an outdated term and way of doing things now. Mostly a collection of songs to be downloaded theses days
Any other trivia to pass on? Yes trivia has been on my mind lately.
As always just some starters. Go with what's on your mind. Me it's the Risen Star at Fair Grounds this weekend. Things are starting to heat up on the Derby trail. Will do a little running post to keep folks involved and for those maybe curious and wanting to learn more.

Wow, that's crazy...total friendzone move, totally not cool. Like geeze, why even waste my time if you're going to say that at the end?! :icon_rolleyes:
I am a Libra, but I don't really read my horoscope much. Sometimes when I have a magazine I'll look through it, it does make sense most of the time. I am a very balanced person!
Was wondering what's the best friendzoning you have done/received?
I've been friendzoned a few times...not fun, but I've also done it so I can't really say much! Usually a guy will say 'think we're better off as friends' or something along those lines & I'm just like, okay then we end up not talking again.
Reddit is fun.
Hmm, I am also on a guinea pig & hamster forum. I was once on an anxiety forum, but forgot about it. I also have a LiveJournal.
What's your favorite album and why? I know that's an outdated term and way of doing things now. Mostly a collection of songs to be downloaded theses days
Yeah, I can't remember the last time I bought a CD...I have Spotify.
Too many good ones to name!!
Tonight I'm going to PAINT NITE! Here's what it is if anyone's curious: Anyone else ever been to one?! They're held at different restuarants. Different paintings. www.paintnite.com
Drinks, food, & painting...it's really cool. I'm not artistic whatsoever, but this'll be my 3rd one. The paintings end up coming out really good. I'm excited! Going with my Mommadukes for some girl time after work.
Tomorrow is my lesson, as usual then I might go shopping after that. I need some new Spring clothes.
So do I...I'm actually a beast at stick figures.
I'll post a picture later when it's done. I won't have too many margaritas so it won't look sloppy LOL.
Yay to Friday!! It is snowing here this morning (big surprise there).
Astrology- nope, don’t follow it. I will occasionally read my horoscope if I’m in a waiting room or something and they have the daily paper. I’m a cancer – and that’s about all I know. My old boss was huge into it, and I’m sure some of it can be interesting. Not my bag though.
Guys, it has been so long since I’ve been on a date that I have no idea on the friendzoning stuff. I know when I was younger I went on some pretty horrendous dates, but I think I brushed the guy off entirely as I didn’t even want to be friends.
Never been on Reddit. What is that?? LOL.
I’m not really on any other forums either. I have a FB account, but don’t post much on there. I’m not a huge fan of social media, tobehonest. I remember & miss the good ol’ days of sending letters in the mail. Sigh…. (I swear I’m a 34 year old on her way to 99).
Favorite album? From when I used to buy CD’s and actually listened to the whole album…I’d have to say one of the Tea Party albums I got or System of a Down (Toxicity). I had to be in the right mood for System, but I liked almost every song on that album. But of course, there are still classics like Pink Floyd, Led Zep & Eagles that are awesome.
I have no idea what my plans are this weekend. NO drinking!! Last weekend I drank enough booze to last me awhile. I will walk the dogs tonight and maybe clean the house. Tomorrow I have a mileage run and if it’s nice out some horsey time. I need to do my income taxes *vomit* at some point too.
Astrology – I don’t really put any stock in it, and psychologically a lot of the terms that describe most “signs” are so generalized and vague that they could describe a wide swathe of people. I do think horoscopes can be fun to look at, but I don’t take them seriously.
I can’t say I’ve been friend-zoned except when I was a teen, but I have had to tell a number of guys I was not interested when they tried to take things from friends to something else- about 3 friends or acquaintances tried to ask me out after I got separated from my ex-husband.
I go on Reddit a lot actually, mostly crafting/freelance/animal/DIY/women’s subs. I do love AskReddit because people put up the craziest stories, and it’s insane what happens to people. It’s helped me gain a lot of insight into what other people’s lives and careers are like. There was just a thread asking zookeepers what their favorite/least favorite animals were, and it was FASCINATING. I also love anything to do with true crime or police stories, some of them are hilarious, and others are heart-breaking.
I can’t say I have a “favorite” album, but I get on music kicks with different things. The last album I downloaded was from a group called Two Steps From Hell, and they pretty much specialize in “epic”-sounding music. But I like a little bit of everything, from musicals and soundtracks, to rap, classical, and country.
Oh, and plans…uh, clean. Yes. Definitely clean the house. Take boxes down to the basement. Start going through stuff that I can sell. Do laundry. Finish building the guinea pigs’ new cage so I can actually put them up in the office and let the cat have the rest of the house.
I’ve been looking into getting some Button Quail hatching eggs and trying to raise a few birds – they’re so flipping cute and they’re only 4 inches long when full grown. The chicks are the size of bumblebees when they hatch.

The Paint night thing sounds fun.. been wanting to try that for a while
Ok then ad libbed movie scenes.. here's a good one Aladdin you know robin williams genie. he ad libbed so many scenes they had to go back and animate them.. like the flaming bee sting her part.. or the opening scene where he's talking about the thing he's selling and it broke.. all ad libbed
Astrology- much like the ghost stories thread interested in thoughts. Do you read your horoscope daily? Read about it? I'm sure there is more to it I know.
I do not read it daily.. don't give it too much thought to be honest..lol
Was wondering what's the best friendzoning you have done/received?
I haven't had a friendzone too much per say.. but I do have a terrible first date story..lol
Reddit- I do not usually go there, until recently.. lots of keto diet recipies.. same with pinterest.. no real use for it until now
What are some of small things like that you have learned? some awesome food
What other sites do you find interesting/ informational?
I youtube like crazy.. I must watch an hour + of videos daily
What's your favorite album and why? Sonata Arctica Reckoning Night favorite song, white pearl black oceans.. great album.. worth listening to
Any other trivia to pass on? What was the only year they did not make a general public production corvette
I want to go ride again this weekend some.. want to do the trails there, although its supposed to be cold this weekend and then warm up again next week
I don't have a lot of time anymore to be browsing many sites and being a member posting on forums (as I have really cut back).
My other hobbies are photography, videography, hockey. I enjoy movies as well, but I don't get to watch too many these days. I really only watch thrillers, horrors and action movies.
What's your favorite album and why? I know that's an outdated term and way of doing things now. Mostly a collection of songs to be downloaded theses days

Astrology- I read my horoscope sporadically but see a psychic once a year and look forward to my visits. She is more right than wrong and it helps
Albums- I listen to Pandora at my desk. I work from home and it is nice to be able to choose what I want. So no albums here
Plans for the weekend.- I live a pretty boring (OK by me) life. My hubby works weelends so my day will be spent cleaning and grocery shopping and doing a side job my daughter and I share. In the summers I mow local cemeteries and ride on Sundays (my 1 day off each week) @Hoofpic it is nice to see you on other threads/

Thanks. I am looking more outside my journal this year and I want to join and chime in on other peoples journeys as well. I am still keeping my journal active but I have taken a different approach this year.
Frankly, I don't put a lot of stock into horoscopes. I'll read them occasionally and idly take quizzes when I'm wasting time online, but don't really believe in their validity.
I'm a Taurus--but I am wary of reading much of any of them after the addition of the thirteenth sign. It like... caused an existential crisis. Like.. I'm still a Taurus. Right? Right!? --Silly, when I don't believe in them anyway. I guess I just don't like change xD
Though it's not my proudest confession, I have 'friend zoned' a number of people.
I didn't even realize it was happening. I treat my male and female friends the same, and too many times it has been mistaken for something it wasn't.
I do occasionally go on Reddit. I mostly stick to "Let's not meet" and "NoSleep" because scary stories are a great way to pass the time, which I have plenty of, these days.
My hobbies are pretty typical; I like designer makeup and clothes (so... does shopping count as a hobby?), I like the fine arts (painting, writing, playing music), and crafting. I also really enjoy gaming and cosplay. Nothing like walking around in your underwear. /die
My mom, who has been here for the past almost two months while I recover from my latest surgery, goes home this weekend. Though I am extremely grateful for her help at a time when I cannot walk/drive (my home is three stories, so that presents a challenge in itself), I think it's time for her to toddle on home.
you need to reduce the number of questions on your friday night conversations. I get overwhelmed. but, here, I do want to try a couple:
favorite album would have to be Sargeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
don't do astrology. NO WAY JOSE. total, total bunk. even though, as a Taurus, I am like a prime example. ha@!
Mr. Rogers. when I was young, I hated that show. but, as I grew older, and became a parent, I LOVED it. he was a genius in how to talk to children. you know he was like a child psychologist. very good with children, and that type of show is no more. which is sad.
another thing about Fred (Rogers), if you were trying to learn English, his show was a good place to start. he spoke slow and as you pointed out, he explained every thing he was doing, so , for a language learner, this is very helpful. I LOVED Fred, and mourned his passing.
my day will be spent going down an hourse drive South to visit my parents in law. my very aged MIL is recovering from a broken leg. she will be needing 24/7 in home care. I am not providing that, but I will be going down frequently to visit, as will hubby. getting old isn't pretty
also with Mr. Rodgers there was a time in the 80's where his car which was like 10 years old at the time was stolen off the studio lot. He made mention of it on the show one day and the next day his car was back at the lot repaired with a note saying they were sorry they stole that car they didn't know it was his or they wouldn't have done it
@RennyPatch I can't really help much with the trivia because I don't know much about cars. @Mulefeather they are going to love their new cage. Probably going to be popcorning all around. I cleaned my girls' cage last night they were so happy!
I really need a long weekend...my next 'extra' day off isn't until like Memorial Day.
Here its ridiculously hot (30ish celcius) and humid, and my electricity and water have been out since yesterday... grrrrrrr.
The pro is that I get to work from a cafe and enjoy good coffee and pastries lol.
This weekend I'm going down to stay with my 'argentinean family' (family of my best friend and roommate, they've pretty much adopted me at this point) but we didnt tell them we are coming, so that should be a nice surprise for her grandparents!! @PoptartShop I have a long weekend this week! Monday and Tuesday are holidays (I'm still working, but just on standby in case of disasters, fingers crossed nothing happens so I get the days off lol)

Hoofpic, what adorable horses <3
And yes, pics are always welcome anywhere on HF
Trying to decide what our plans are for today.
We're considering a movie... anyone have any suggestions?
Right now we're thinking "Get Out" as it has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes--not an easy feat for a horror flick!
I'm going to see Get Out in a couple hours, I've been greatly anticipating this movie for awhile now. I'm a huge horror/thriller fan. Plus it's my bday tomorrow so I;m going to treat myself.
I always go to the movies by myself, even on Friday nights. I don't care if it looks funny (cause let's face it, how often do you see people going to the movies alone?)
PS - Aren't those two paints the cutust? The foal is a Fly mini!
Astrology- much like the ghost stories thread interested in thoughts. Do you read your horoscope daily? Read about it? I don't take it seriously or look into it. Once in a while for fun but it doesn't mean anything to me.
Was wondering what's the best friendzoning you have done/received?
I'm not sure. In general I just have no interest in relationships. I have no motivation for closeness, relationships, etc. I just like being independent. The best relationship I've ever had is with myself and the happiest I've ever been is single, so I just don't worry about. My friend's that are guys know and understand that. I'm just not interested in that aspect of life.
Reddit- sometimes if I'm curious about something.
What are some of small things like that you have learned?
I don't know I can't remember what I've last looked looked up on Reddit. Im constantly learning but I guess the last one was something to do with meiosis and mitosis and why carbon is the base element of life and not silicon. Or sometimes just to learn about cats and cat behavior *Shrugs* really anything goes. I've looked at lines of code over and over again and wanted to scream because it didnt make sense and I couldn't figure out why my program didnt work.
What other sites do you find interesting/ informational? Any for your non horse related hobbies?
Uhh...nerding...atm any spare time I have goes to my horses and the rest in doing homework, studying and reading. But on my own time I'm interested in physics, I LOVE math, I like genetics, and I don't know. It just depends. I like learning about mostly anything and I think about a lot of things, so it's hard to specify. Sometimes it's about people or neuroscience or psychology, sometimes it's programming and trying to figure out how things work, sometimes it's biomechanics or logic puzzles or makeup or cooking or why different foods are essential. Why enzymes are essential. Really just nerding and avoiding social situations and people because socialization = unnecessary stress and interaction. Cat cuddles and studying their behavior.
What's your favorite album and why?
I have no idea. I haven't bought an album in a LONG time. I really don't have a favorite album because it changes all the time. I like real music with actual instruments, I don't especially like artificial sounds but it depends on my mood and the day. I love show tunes and broadway, I love classical music, I love blues, I enjoy a huge variety except rap and hip hop and anything basically obnoxious and without any kind of depth.
Any other trivia to pass on? Yes trivia has been on my mind lately.
I actually suck at trivia. I know a lot about stuff nobody cares about and essentially nothing about pop culture. But I guess for trivia in 1905 Albert Einstein came up with his Theory of light and actually received his nobel prize for photoelectric light and contributions to theoretical physics.
I'm a cancer, the crab. I have a deeply ingrained fear of water. I didn't learn to swim until I was 17, and still cannot put my head underwater or I will panic and lose consciousness. I still cannot swim in deep water without panicking.
Oddly, I love the ocean. The first time I was on the ocean I felt like I could dive head first off the boat, and I BELONGED in that water. I BELONG to the oceans.
I do also change with the moon. I've gotten fairly good at judging my moods and such from the moon phases. I will always cry 2-3 days before a full moon. Always. Even over something totally stupid. Now I know when the full moon is coming because I'll catch myself crying. And I hate crying. Hate hate hate it.
My feet also swell and I retain water on the night of a new moon. It's been that way since I was nine years old and I can bet money on it now. I try to lay off any salt that day and drink lots of water.
Other than that I don't pay much attention to my zodiac or horoscope. I think that most of the horoscopes can relate to you in some way. I tested this once on a friend who was really into horoscopes. Took a libra horoscope and told her it was Virgo. She exclaimed "wow it's so so accurate!" Yeah.... hahahahaha.
"It'd be a whole lot cooler if you did"...haha! Not a huge Matthew McConaughey fan but those are some classic lines.

Used to read my horoscope but I don't anymore. Became the controller of my own destiny I guess.
Was wondering what's the best friendzoning you have done/received?
Been married for a while no need. Except for bartending last winter. Plenty of "friend zoning" I guess is what you'd call it.

Other than FB and a couple other forums nothing. I belong to a cow horse group on FB that is really good.
Non horse related I read cattle market trends and articles through other websites.
What's your favorite album and why? I know that's an outdated term and way of doing things now. Mostly a collection of songs to be downloaded theses days
This is hard, depends on my mood and what I am into at the moment. Right now I am loving True Widow "circumambulation" and Arctic Monkeys even though its a few years old.
Halfway through calving. One thing about calving early is you're done early. Hopefully about 50 days left of feeding hay. Worked all day on the feeder to get it going again.
Round pen and arena were getting closer to being used until this last storm, but its getting there. I have plenty to do. Hooey needs to get going, cowhorse/cutting clinic in April and going to show him this year cow horse. Stilts has been moved to barrel horse, need to get him legged up for the season. Boss has a 4 year old that needs started, a 9 year old mare who has been a broodmare the last couple of years going again. A 3 year old filly halter broke and started. My Reno snaffle bit futurity prospect for 2018 needs to be halter broke and gentled. Plus work. I'm excited for spring and being busy!

So today I went snowmobiling.

What are some of small things like that you have learned? The modern Hebrew word for fish sounds somewhat like the English word for dog.
What other sites do you find interesting/ informational? Any for your non horse related hobbies? Usually, it's just YouTube, Answers in Genesis, and my college forum that I frequently visit.
What's your favorite album and why? I know that's an outdated term and way of doing things now. Mostly a collection of songs to be downloaded theses days Oh man, that's a tough one. I just download, but some of my favorites right now are Mansion by NF, Eye On It and This Is Not A Test by Tobymac, and God's Not Dead by Newsboys. I really like what their lyrics are about, and the rhythms/beats.
Any other trivia to pass on? Yes trivia has been on my mind lately. I find it interesting that the total combinations of hemoglobin's amino acids are 4x10 to the 619 power (10 with 619 zeros trailing) and only 5 known combinations work in humans. Does that count?
As always just some starters. Go with what's on your mind. Me it's the Risen Star at Fair Grounds this weekend. Things are starting to heat up on the Derby trail. Will do a little running post to keep folks involved and for those maybe curious and wanting to learn more.
I think I have spring fever...getting anxious to be outside more without all the winter coats and jackets! I have seen lots of birds migrating back north.
Not much going on here. Hubby had a hip replacement a couple of days ago so for the most part we're hanging around the house. He had his first pt session today so I had to take him to town and had lunch at Taco Bell while killing time. Tomorrow 2 of my sisters are bringing my mom down to visit. I guess she can't take our word that he's doing fine and wants to see for herself. LOL
This is the only forum I'm really into. There's another I visit but it has very little activity on it. Used to be on the SASS (single action shooting society) back when we had our shooting range but I quit when we closed the range down several years ago.
The only time I listen to music is when I'm in a vehicle and then I listen to whatever they're playing on the radio. Tuned to either country (preferably older country) or oldies rock. I used to love my Jim Croce's Photographs and Memories 8 track though. LOL I wish we still had a working 8 track player!
Never was into Mr. Rogers but I watched Captain Kangaroo when I was a kid.
edit..I forgot about the horoscope part. I'll read one if I happen across it but I don't set any store by them. Didn't even know they added another sign, that's how out of the loop I am. My sign is or at least was Leo.
A girl I dated moved away, neither of us really wanted a long distance relationship. It turned out amicable, we are still friends. No juicy details, sorry.
The head of National Cash Registry (mega corp in the 1930s and 1940s, IBM, Boeing and others started there) rode horses with his top executives every morning at 05:00 AM. He also insisted they all keep a little red book of every idea that they have. He fired them for failing to to do either to his standards. There is a lesson there.
What's your favorite album and why? I know that's an outdated term and way of doing things now. Mostly a collection of songs to be downloaded theses days
Physical Graffiti by Led Zepplin. The entire band was amazing. Jimmy Page is kind of a weird in his personal life, but might be the best guitarist that has lived to date. They recorded the entire thing inside an old house in the country because the acoustics were better than what they could find in a studio, all in the entry to the home.
His birth name was Pinaquanah (Smells of Sugar). Interesting read.
