any body here have On-Star in their vehicle

Was reading an article that said,

The FBI was activating the the unit and listening to conversations
    With in the vehicle.

A lower court agreed that the FBI could do this and you would never be
    Aware what was happening.

But a federal appeals court said NO, they can't do this because
It causes On-Star to be deactived in case of a crash and it can't
Report to the On-Star monitoring station that the vehicle was in a
Crash and give the location to send help to.

The Federal Court never touched on the subject of it being an illegal
Wiretape. And an invasion of privacy.

My mom has On Star in her new vehicle, I havent heard anything about the cases your talking about but all I know is me and my mom were driving along one day like a week after she bought the SUV and all of a sudden the radio turned off and a lady started talking to us, we were FREAKED! She was an on star lady explaining to my mom the features of her new car, it was freaking weird!

Yes, I have On Star, in my Hummer, have had a few weird things happen, but I use a lot for diagnostic reports...I love it, and always use the phone. :)

That is nuts. I wouldn't be surprised that it's something they would do.

I don't have it on mine(I drive a Ford), but they would be welcomed to listen to my messed up conversations. I think they would end up turned it off!

Yeaaaa... I'd like to get a new car with it.

Honestly that doesn't surprise me in the least. Never mind the fact that what the FBI was/is doing is completely illegal, and would violate our privacy rights.
