    Anyone play soccer on here?

I was just wondering if anyone esle besides me played soccer on here? The only other sport I like except horses is soccer . I play for the YMCA Middle School Division now and will be High School Division in the Fall. I have played the sport for 9 years and I have to thank my dad for teaching me everything I know now. He has truly been awesome.

Well, you have to start with a really big ball. We have an official horse soccer ball. The game is played from horseback but the rider is not allowed to touch the ball. The horse has to move it either by nose or leg. You can play with just 2 riders or more in teams. We set up barrels as goals but you can use anything. 1 point per goal and you play to 10 points. Sounds easy right? Sassafras is really good at it and will push the ball with her nose. Vida hasn't gotten the nose pushing down but will "kick" it. Hubby always wins but its fun anyway Heres a link with some pics so you get a better idea:

That's so cool! It looks like a lot of fun and of course it counts it's a different form of soccer and better yet it has to do with horses .

That looks great. So much fun. Think I might have to give it a try at some point. Although Petra would probably run away from it. Its a big monster - HELP!

I know what you mean meggymoo the horse I had would have got there saw the ball and swore it was the devil in the shape of ball all in while reversing the game and turing me into the ball and giving me some nice all over hoof art .

Its easier than you would think to get the horse to want to "play". I think my horses main problem has been I use a curb bit. I am going to try a snaffle next time we play and see if she will push it. The shanks on the curb hit the ball first and it puts her off. I have seen police horse training where they use a big ball to teach the horse to push against crouds.
You really should try it, its a lot of fun. I think any large ball would work.

In the States people call it now 'horse soccer', but the original name is 'pushball on horseback'. It has started in 1902 in New York! In Europe we call it still Pushball.

People play it all over the world, like in Germany, Czech, UK, and also in my country the Netherlands/Holland. In Russia it already has a long tradition and in New Zealand it just has started!
Please, visit my weblog with a lot of Pushball history and some international connections. Hopefully other international trainers wil share their own horse soccer/pushball experiences with their colleages all over the world. Because each country has its own version now. www.pushballonhorseback.blogspot.com
