Appeal claim for college denied... oh well, there's always next semester.

I just received notice that my appeal claim to get back into college for the Fall Semester has been denied. I had no choice but to withdraw from college this past Spring Semester (due to illness, dental visits, injury, a car wreck, and other happenings), an withdrawing completely like I had to do dropped my class percentages.

I must admit, I'm disappointed. I filled out the claim form and even got all my medical records, dental records, insurance [car wreck] records, etc... and turned everything in. I was assured by the people I had to give the forms to (they read through everything when I was there) that I was guaranteed to be able to re-enroll in college, because I had so much valid information and it was highly obvious that I couldn't have passed my classes and had no choice but to withdraw...

Obviously not.

I'm a little upset with the system as well as feeling disappointed. I mean, seriously, they had my hopes up (because I really do want to get back into college) with the way they assured me and guaranteed me that I'd be able to get back in (I have to be on Financial Aid or I wouldn't be able to even go to college)...

Oh well... I'm optimistic. I can try for next semester (Spring 2014)...

Instead of wasting a semester can you look into a community college, that your original school will accept the credits ?

The college I'm trying to get back into is a community college. -_- Right before I had to withdraw (the beginning of that semester) I switched my major from English to Foodservice Management and was trying to get my basics for that major accomplished before transferring to a University, as the only University close-by that offers a Foodservice major is a very long drive (almost two hours) that I am going to have to drive back and forth to from home when I finally do go there. Lol...

When I switched my major, it really messed my credits up because when I started at the community college, I focused only on classes for an english major, and didn't focus on any other classes that I would have had to have if I had entered college with an undecided major, and since I switched to a business major, I'm having to go back and take all of those 'basic' classes, and I was really hoping to get those done at the community college so that once I got into the University, I could just focus completely on finishing up the Foodservice major...

Whew, that was a lot of write...

Then, we add onto the fact that college starts in two days... I would try to get into one of the other community colleges (there's only one other really close-by)... but I'm guessing it's probably too late by this point...

I feel your pain. I had to sit out due to real life stuff once... at least its only a semester!

Im one class from my BS and I had to take it at a CC....they have WAY more stupid fiery hoops than a real 4 year, and now all the classes are half again waitlisted. Im going to cry if begging and pleading don't get me into that SINGLE class this term.

So the moral of the story is...it happens, it sucks...at least time goes by fairly quickly, and you will be right back having "fun" with it soon.

You can always work on your core classes. They might be able to keep you out of "the Program", but I don't think they can keep you from taking core classes.
BTW, I have never heard of a community college doing this, after all you are not in law school.

Nope they can for sure keep you out. Academic Probation, and forced wait.

If you have any core classes left, CLEP them.

Yeah, it's not the end of the world, I know. I'm confident that I can get back in and am going to try again for Spring Semester next year. If I don't get back in then, I'll just keep trying or try at a different college, maybe both.

At least I have a steady job, even though my hours have been cut back drastically, and, if need be, I can and am more than willing to look for a second, part-time job if my reduced hours pose monetary problems within the next few months (which my hours shouldn't be reduced too much more, if anymore at all... I have seniority where I work and have been informed that I'll be one of the first persons called to come in if work picks back up).

What does CLEP mean? (sorry, I've never heard that term)

And I'm not on Academic Probation or anything... I've just had some problems with having to withdraw dropping my percentages and now my appeal to re-enroll has been denied. Believe me, I've asked the Fin. Aid office, lol.
