I really know what you mean. Although I don't have my own horse, I've been riding one for a while and then these girls come along and think they know it all and say: "Oh, Rachel, your reins are too loose, don't forget to put your leg back, he doesn't like it when you're doing that. I do things for a reason man! Just pee off and let me do my own thing, if the instructor thinks I'm doing something wrong, they'll let me know, that's what I pay money for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't it common knowledge though that when you do walk behind a horse you should really stay close to them in case they do kick?

I say you know your horse best. Now, if there was a beginner rider or a young child standing behind a horse, I would definitely point out safety facts.

I'm totally with on this one!!
You know you're horse and you know how its going to react to stuff like that. I go up up behind Skip all the time and wrap my arms around his butt, LOL he dosen't care.
Now, if you don't know the horse that's one thing, but when you do it nbd. People should watch out for themselves. It would be nice if they came to the realization that they need to know more about horses before telling others what to do..but that won't happen. *sigh*

okay, so I know I'm pretty new to riding and being around horses, but I have a story kinda like that.

There was this little kid at the barn for my first lesson, and granted she'd probably been there way longer than I had, but she was really annoying me. I was brushing the horse I'd ridden and she helped me, fine and all, but the gelding kept moving back and forth. She kept saying, "stop it, dreamer!" and pulling him back, but it wasn't working. So I said, "Woah," because all the horses there are trained to listen and respond to woah. And for a moment he stopped, but the kid says, "You don't have to say woah or anything, I've got it under control." XDD I about peed my pants. She was probably 3 feet tall. That horse could have eaten her.

I wanted to brush my new horse friend, and I was doing a much better job on controlling him, but she insisted on being miss know it all. When I started my lesson she tried to tell me all this stuff and the teacher had to tell her to go away. I didnt pay 40 bucks for an elementary student to tell me how to ride a horse, ya know? And the horse she was being put on was wearing a two person saddle thing, she wasnt even riding by herself as far as I know, (although there were kids at a horse show probably just as young)! XD And after I finished brushing half of him, ( I was on one side with a really quiet cute little boy a little older than her, she was alone on the other) and we put our brushes up, she complained that we werent done working. She never let us help her on her side, but now she yelled we "still had brushing to do, HELLO?!" xD

Sorry for the long post, it just made me laugh no matter how annoying it was at the time. That poor kid must be spoiled rotten.

While there are people on this earth, you will have that issue. It's the same as stupid people getting hurt. As long as there are people on this earth, I have a job
