Bored on an airplane

Hi everyone,

This is Mike, aka Administrator. I'm on an airplane headed to a conference for work and have 5 hours left to go. I'm bored out of my mind. Wireless internet access on the flight sounded like a great idea, but every time I glance at the battery level of this laptop it's down another percent.

Here comes the soda cart, aka the elbow basher. Do I enjoy a refreshing beverage despite the additional trip to the restroom it will necessitate? I suppose it's nice to have that be the most pressing question in my life for the moment.

Is anyone up to anything interesting today?

They don't have plug ins for your laptop, that sucks.

Lets see my exciting day, housework, laundry, trying to avoid watching the soccer that the boys are watching. Maybe catch some bonding time with my new girl a bit later.

You need to grab a beverage and then start doing some exercises..

Walk down the aisle asking if anyone has seen your snake

Ask the steward to direct you to the no smoking section.

I hope the 5 hours is taking you somewhere new and exciting.

I like the "have you seen my snake?" game.

Hmmmmm....Friday it was a 7.5 hour flight for me. I spent the time watching Young Adult, sipping wine and reading my kindle. So I'm no help to you obviously.

Back here in Delta Steerage we're lucky to get a bag of peanuts!

Liberating our bedroom from the giant tentacled monster (shirt sleeved and pant legged) that starts as an empty hamper and grows and grows as laundry day is deferred has never excited me, either, but I always feel good once it's done.

Are the boys in your household big soccer fans? I've always wondered why soccer isn't nearly as popular in the US as it is elsewhere.

Hah, "don't mind me, just trying to burn a few cals' before we land. Say, you mind leaning over so I can use this space to stretch?"

I found a great pic annotated with Samuel Jackson's thoughts about mummy loving snakes on a mummy loving plane, but I suppose this pic will have to do.

I'm headed to California, but unfortunately I don't expect I'll see much other than a convention center beyond the taxi ride from the airport.

I had plenty of excitement getting on the plane, though. My wife dropped me off at the airport with an hour to spare. Before I left, she told me how important it was that I get a Sky Miles card so that I could get points for the trip and apply it toward a vacation at some point. Well, I waited on line for 45 minutes and never got a chance to talk to anyone about it. This was before the security check, determining which gate my flight was leaving from, etc. I know, it was very foolish of me. I ended up doing a Home Alone-esque sprint through the airport, and just made it to the gate as they were finishing the last call. Of course the overhead compartments were out of room, so they had to check my carry on and now I get to wait for it when we land. I suppose I should just be grateful I made the flight. I won't tempt airport fate again!

3:54 to go. 71% battery capacity remaining. Not looking good!

It's always fun to see how easy it is to piss of a flight attendant and get kicked off of the plane. Some flight attendants are harder to provoke than others.

you can get the frequent flier card on board the plane and apply the miles to it retroactively. KEEP the boarding pass.

Turn the brightness way down on your laptop and shut the window so you don't get a glare. Saves a ton of battery that way
