I will admit that Canon's technology is more advanced, but I can get the same pictures out of my Nikons. I like Nikons because I've just used them more. I used my friend's D40 for a while before I bought my own and I loved it. Using a Canon now seems really foreign and everything feels backwards (the zoom on the lenses is). I like natural lighting and I like the way Nikon pictures look with natural light over Canon.

But the D40 is a 2006 model. I got mine in 2008, 3 months after it was discontinued, so I figured it was time to upgrade to a D5100.

Picturess! I almost always shoot in Programmed Auto, so I couldn't tell you what most of the settings are because I switch them around a lot and these pictures are older. But none of them are edited in any way.

Nikon D40

Nikon D5100

This one was edited, but using only the editing tools on the camera itself.

Not a huge difference in the pictures other than I've gotten better over the last couple of years. I don't edit really, but I was playing with the different options in the D5100 with that picture of the pony. (It has a TON, by the way.) The D5100 has 16.2MP or something like that whereas my D40 had 6. Not a big deal to me because I don't edit nor do I blow up my pictures into prints.

Oooooooh, I love cameras :3 I use a Sony NEX-3 that I ADORE. It never leaves my side :P I have taken more pictures on it than their are things to take pictures of in the world... :P Here are some from the Sony NEX-3 (These are all completely raw, accept possibly cropping)

Then, my other small point and shoot Canon camera s90 (These are completely raw too, accept the editing thats directly on the camera. In my case, its called "Poster Effect".

My brother puts up with all of my new ideas, and is the perfect model

I had a Nikon D70 for years and upgraded to the D300 about a year ago. It was a bit of an adjustment, it's not beginner user friendly! I had to actually get a very good grasp of things like ISO and Fstop, which I was too lazy to figure out before because I could always default to "auto" on my D70 if I needed to. Not on the 300! i take a thousand really bad pictures, adjusting everything along the way, until I get a good shot. but usually the good shots are REEEALLLY good shots! I love it!

I just have a little Canon T3, I really like it, but I'd like to upgrade to a nicer camera and a higher quality lens soon. The lens I want is around $2,000 US though, and buying horsey items comes first! Here are 2 shots of mine, I need to try getting some more artistic shots soon. (Not me riding, but a friend of mine, I did take the picture though).

Uh oh. I rented a D300 for my friend's wedding this weekend... Hope it goes ok! :S

I put some new pics up of Ronan in the pictures section, those I shot with my D5000 and a small telephoto lens (I didn't want to have to stand miles back or I would have used my big lens...)

I own a Nikon D300s with an 18-200 lens and a 70-200 lens I use for my action shots at shows and such.

Here are a couple of Senior Pics I took last weekend.

I use a Canon Rebel XSi and love it, have had it for almost 5 years now and just have the regular lens that came with it and a regular non fancy 50mm. I really want to invest in a new higher telephoto but the one I want costs more then the camera itself did lol.

Here are a few pics....sorry if they are HUGE

just remember... a DSLR is only as good as its lens.. a 50mm lens or any lens with non moveable parts are the absolute best, means you have no zoom, but they will be the sharpest and least blurry photos youll ever take!
