I had a cat that would wait for us to walk the dogs at the end of driveway and then just walked with us (although as she was getting older she got too tired too soon, and I had to carry her after a while).

I hope it's the cat's dog and not someone else's. One male cat we owned when I was a kid could reach the doorbell because of how the entry to the house was built. He rubbed up against it, as cats do, the bell rang and my mother opened the door. No one there but the cat scooted in. This became his method of getting let in.

Like it! That's a very determined cat. I am a first time cat owner as of 2011 and have a 4 yr old sheltie too. My cat waits at the window for the dog when she goes outside and meets her at the door when we come in. They sleep in my dog's bed together. I was surprised at how well they get along. They're too cute!
