chincoteague island

Has anyone been there? Any suggestions on a weekend trip there? Things to do and where to stay?

I used to go there every summer with my best friend when I was little. Her family has a house there. I don't remember the specifics of the places we went but there was I bike trail a lot of people go on to see the ponies. I don't think we ever went anywhere special. Just a lot of biking, fishing, going to the beach. It's beautiful there and I would love to go back. Hopefully some day soon.

I am planning on going up there when I am older, I'll definitely be bringing home some chinco ponies!! I hope you have fun!

It looks pretty neat. It's really close but because of the way you have to go to get there I think it's going to take about 4 hours....

I feel so dumb, I always thought it was way away somewhere far. I could even go there if I really wanted to! I want to now!

I guess I'll have to find some pics or something to put up here since no one else seems to have been. I do remember a mini golf place we used to go to... not that that's super fun or special or anything...

I have been to Assateague Island, a ton of times. Especially when I was little. Chinoteague and Assateague Island are really close to each other, so I am assuming they are very similar. When we went, we just visited. We went on the beach and played in the water. The best part for me when I was little was seeing the horses. I have a ton of pictures of the little ponies. I think the most amazing part is that people would go up and pet them. A wild pony! In my head, I was always thinking these people are stupid and don't know the dangers of this. The horses are so used to people and probably wouldn't do much, but there is always that small chance.

Anyway, the beaches are so nice and largely unspoiled. Have fun and enjoy the different types of horses. Good childhood memories for me.
